Just curious of anybody out there is doing anything special for their spouse for Sweetest Day tomorrow? (a Hallmark scam to make money according to H)
We are actually going to dinner, and I got him a neat little gift---a Lenox sterling silver fortune cookie, all packaged in a fancy little Chinese take out looking box. It's kind of corny, but I put a "fortune" in it where I wrote out a line of a favorite song of mine that's applicable right now (After all these years, we still have each other). Kind of weird, but I thought it was unique. Hopefully he'll see it that way, too.....

I, at first, wasn't going to do anything because I was sure he would not anything. We are four months into recovery and not doing all that good. But, instead, I sat down today and made up a Sweetest Day coupon book for him (some coupons were "good"--breakfast in bed, etc. and some were "bad" [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] ) . I think he will like it and it will show him I was thinking about him. I ended the coupon book with a coupon for a wife who loves him completely and believes in him. The A started one year ago (sometime around Halloween) so part of me is really struggling right now but I am trying to do the correct thing. I like your idea.
I have no plans for this day. But here are some sentiments for it:
"Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without"
--James Baldwin
"To Love is nothing. To be loved is something. To love and to be loved is everything."
--Anonymous
"There is no greater nor easier gift to give, than love. nor is there any one pain greater than it being stricten from you."
--Daniel Alicie
"You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love."
-Henry Drummond
"The truth is that there is only one terminal dignity - love. And, the story of a love is not important - what is important is that one is capable of love. It is perhaps the only glimpse we are permitted of eternity."
--Helen Hayes
"Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts."
--Oliver Wendell Holmes
"Let no one who loves be unhappy. Even love unreturned has its rainbow"
--James Mathhew Barrie
"To love is to receive a glimpse of heaven."
--Karen Sunde
"Beauty in not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
--Kahlil Gibran
"What greater thing is there than for two human souls to feel that they are joined together to strengthen each other in all labor, to minister to each other in all sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, & to be one with each other in the silent unspoken memories"
--George Elliot
"Without love, the world itself would not survive."
--Lope de Vega
"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind."
--William Shakespeare
