Hi Everyone,
Well, my H was supposed to call me this week, didn't happen.
I've always been the kind of person that never wanted to be afraid of anything ... wanted to try and conquer all my fears.
But here I am afraid to open my own mailbox in fears that there will be some large official looking envelope in there .... D papers! I even went as far as asking my neighbor, who was talking w/me last night next to the mail box, to look in and tell me if anything official looking was in there before I reached in. (he knows the situation)
This is ridiculous, I know, but it is so scary to me.
Can any State of Washingtonian's out there tell me HOW D papers are served, what the guidelines are ... i.e., do they have to serve you in person, certified mail, regular mail .... WHAT????

Thanks for helping ...
God Bless.
Love,
Jo
------------------
Josie_Res@Hotmail.com
"Remain flexible like a reed, as opposed to an oak which can snap in the wind"
[This message has been edited by Resilient (edited October 28, 2000).]

I don't know specifically Washington state, but generally you have to;
1 Be served. A licensed process server has to identify you and give you the paperwork personally.
2 You sign a waiver of service, meaning the papers are given to you in some way and you sign a paper saying you waive the requirement of service & you have received the papers.
3 Advertisement of 30-45 days in the legal section of the paper at your last known address.
If it does not meet any of these three, then he most likely had the papers drawn up & shoved them in you mailbox.
Read 'em over and consult with a lawyer, but DO NOT respond to them in any way until you do. Do not let him (your H) know you received them until you consult with a lawyer.
------------------
Prayers & God Bless!
Chris
For relationship info check out Marriage & Relationship Resources

Thanks Chris!
Okay ... next question. I know in the State of WA it's a no-fault D State, but am I required to sign the D papers themselves. Meaning, I contest the D and do not/will not sign them, so can/does the D go thru anyhoo?
Raed your update ... I'm sorry you you still haven't heard back from W. She really is "out there, isn't she?
Jo

Hey Jo,
We are way too much alike. I get almost an anxiety attack each time I go to the mailbox. It's the hardest part of my days sometimes. I am afraid of anything he may send me, even copies of our investments and savings (which I requested two weeks ago and haven't seen yet)
So, I'll make you a deal...I'll be brave and go if you will. (Gulp).
Hope you're doing all the good stuff for yourself this weekend that you can think of. I had a great morning shopping with my kids and doing haircuts and stuff. Daughter is going to Homecoming tonight and is soaking in the tub as I type...it's just so cute. She has a real date, and boy...what a hunk!
I'll probably be on tonight if you're around and don't have a hot date or anything.
Take care...and go check your mail.
allison jo (wife of schmuck)

I am scared just to check my e-mail, and when I get one from him, I let it sit a day or so before I open it. I just don't want to hear it.
I am sorry, Jo. I was and am still praying for you--you deserve so much better.
