I'm in a foul mood tonight.
See, I get home from work and since my gf, kids and I live with my folks, I ask where she is, since it's 8:30pm. My mother says she's not been home yet, but called around 6:30 saying she was on her way home.
Well, I immediately get back in the car and go looking for her. I knew she wasn't at the hospital office where she is currently positioned, as I had passed by where she parked (I am on the road a bit with my job) for the day. I saw the car at 7:00pm where she worked, then 10 min later, as I'm on my way back to where I work, I see that her car is gone.
"Great, she's on her way home finally..." I think to myself.
I get home around 8:30 and hear the news. So I drive past the hospital again; No Car. I drive by the house we're working on; No Car. I know of 2 places her Male Co-Worker friend either lives at or is at, at times. So I go and try his house; No Car.
I look at my watch and it's almost 9pm. I think that I should go over to where the other place is, but I figure I should be getting home.
So I get home and see that on our Caller ID, that her best friend called. Seeing that she'd recently had a baby, was suffering (at least partially) through Post-Pardom Depression, plus HER BF has been a jerk of late, I think to myself "Well, maybe she went out there because something was up again."
My GF had to leave from work at the end of the day, the other day, because things were bad between her best friend and her BF (personal stuff I won't get into).
So I think to myself, "Yeah, there's a good chance that's what happened..." I note the time on the Caller ID: 6:52pm. "Hmm, she (my GF) can poke around the office at times for 15-20 min after she says she's 'On her way' and any other place." hehe She's always been like that. So I think to myself that perhaps her best friend called up to the office, got ahold of her and she went down to her house and simply forgot to call me.
She'd forgotten to go down to her best friend the night of the Halloween Party that I took the kids to a couple days ago. And she's one that would NEVER...EVER! intentionally NOT go down and visit with her. Especially when she's needing some company/support/an ear that listens to her/shoulder to cry on...that kinda thing.
So, all in all, I think to myself that, that might've definately been what happened.
I do admit, she has her MAIN office, located near the house that I could've checked, since that was where she originally was before they started moving her around all over the place. She could've stopped in there for all I know, since I didn't check.
I called down to her friends house. "No, she's not here, but I'll tell her to give you a call if she does come down..."
Okay...now I'm wondering WTF?
About 5 min later, she finally DOES come home. I found it rather odd that she didn't eat any of the dinner that'd been prepared, just a little desert. (Suspicions growing at the moment)
We all watched "Who wants to be a Millionaire" and another program and since tomorrow was Friday, she told me she needed to get some Lunchables (quick eats type stuff) from the store for our Son (since on Fridays, his daycare encourages it).
I ask her if she wanted me to go with her and she says "No, I'll be right back."
This was at 10:15pm when she left.
I told myself that I'd give her about 30 min, since various convenience stores and local big stores carry it.
30 min passes. It's now 10:45pm. So I go out and start snooping.
First place I go is to the house. Yup, she's there. Various thoughts enter my head "Well, maybe she's picking up her mail. If the Publishers Clearing House stuff came today, she's prolly doing that in the kitchen." (She DOES do that as I've seen her do it several times when we've gone over there at night)
I also thought to myself "Hmmm...maybe she's also giving HIM a call, since I've found out she's tried calling him twice that I know of."
So I swing the car around to the other street next to the house. I see the car heading down the street and I follow, far enough away that she wouldn't know that it was me.
She turns in the general direction of both a big grocery store AND his house. But she turns down the road to the store. I watch her as she goes inside the store and I decide to head home.
Yes, I've become a VERY paranoid person these days. All because of HIM. (His nasty attitude towards me that I've seen in the past, just in TWO references that I've seen in emails, let alone whatever else he's saying to her about me....and his constant inclusion in her life; daily emails to her, her efforts to talk to him by going to the Gym almost EVERY day after work, trying to call him...ect.) I was never like this before when things got bad between her and I. EVER!!!!
Anyways, I get home and about 10 min later, so does she. She's VERY quiet around me. Before she left, she was talkative to me, semi-affectionate (i.e. holding hands, winking at me...) But now she's quiet.
I instantly know something is wrong. I follow her into the bedroom and ask her repeatedly "What's wrong" and gave reasons why I thought something was wrong.
She finally says "I hear you called (insert her best friends name here). You keeping tabs on me?" We have an argument (LB'ing I'm afraid). I try to explain myself and my actions. She's got the "okay, sure, whatever..." attitude.
We both calm down a little, me more than her and we talk for a few minutes. She claims she didn't attack me with what she said, and based on words alone, it really wasn't an attack. But it was HOW she said it. That was where the attack on me was placed. That's what got me to start the arguement with her.
But in combination in how she's been sleeping very poorly and not very much of late, she tells me she needs to get to bed.
So I'm here, writing this out and am still angry.
Where was she for those 2.5 hours? She claims that if I'd asked, she would've said she was at work. But I know that would've been a partial lie on her part, if not a complete one.
I dunno though. I need to vent.

HAL:
You cannot control your girlfriend. She will do what she does.
You can control yourself. Is what you are doing (sneaking and spying) making you happy? You can change that!
I can understand wanting to find out what she's up to, but don't obsess over it. Be the best you that you can be--she fell in love with you: let that specialness show through and she may just come back.
Good luck to you, HAL. I know it's hard.
All the best. --HBC
