Hi Hi-Infidelity,
I'm a veteran at fending off ulcer attacks. My symptoms included dull-to-sharp pain in the pit of my stomach near the belly button; a bloated feeling; a near constant urge to eat to relieve the pain; sometimes gastric reflux (backflow of gastric acid up the esophagus); and an acrid taste in my mouth.
1st course of treatment I recommend is to drink a lot of water to dilute gastric juices; take a strong antacid that coats the stomach like Pepcid or Mylanta, and if symptoms persist get thee to a doctor who can prescibe heavy-duty drugs that can usually take care of the problem. The physician my order an UGI (upper gastrointestinal tract x-ray study) to confirm the presence of an ulcer. It requires that you drink a flavored barium cocktail while the radiologist uses a an x-ray live camera (fluoroscope) to view your esophagus and stomach.
Oh, it helps to also get rid of the major stress points in your life, whatever those might be. Doesn't have anything to do with needing to post on this forum, does it?
