TalKed to my MIL today and she said H has said he was coming over to her house at Xmas.
If you remember Thanksgiving, he said the same thing then no showed. She told me his excuse was that he worked 4 hours of overtime the night before and was tired. Hmm, I still believe conflict avoidence played a large part.
Anyway. I had written him a letter saying I was going to be there and he should let me know if he didnt want me there.
So now I think I should get him a little present. I have something for the rest of his family. We draw names for the big gift, but then usually get thoughtfull small things for each other anyway. I am totally out of ideas for him. Any suggestions on what to get your seperated non speaking spouse that may not show up? HELP
Lora

hmmm...maybe a necktie??? (sorry, was thinking maybe it could be used for choking
him)
no seriously..something simple..he has his own apartment I assume..you could get him something for that..or if you have kids..which I am assuming as well..that you could get something like a video that the kids would enjoy watching while they are visiting..
I got my stbx a watch from the kids
something simple..and something he needs..since his last one broke..it wasn't very expensive..I figured if he wanted
an expensive gift from the kids he could do what I have done for the past nine years for me from them..buy it himself...If I buy him anything at all from me..it will be something simple..
How about a nice bottle of wine - if he doesn't show up then you can sit back and enjoy it yourself!

Hey Lora,
Boy ... I don't know. Do you think he'll really show this time??? I hope so.
I'll think on the present thing for ya, okay. We want to make sure we don't get him anything he can share or give OW, right?
If he does show, Hon ... I know you'll be strong and you really are looking great these days ... you've been glowing lately and it really shows.
We'll chat on the phone tomorrow, K? I worked almost all day today. Sorry about church. Hope you'll forgive.
Love you, Lora!
Jo
[This message has been edited by Resilient (edited December 18, 2000).]

I got my H the perfect thing. At the Discovery store, it is a pack of cards of self affirmations to find inner strength. Yes with that my H should find some strength, he is a lost sheep right now...
B

Lora,
This was hard for me too. My husband birthday is tommorow. Try not to get him anything personnel. If you want him back, he must feel free. Now that I depend on prayer for everything I have prayed about it. I know this helps me. Get him a small gift like the other family members. If you didn't draw his name then just show respect as you are for the other family members. If he doesn't show up leave the gift under the tree he will get it later. It seems you love your husband very much so please don't give him anything that would offend him. I know the others were jokes and they were funny especially the tie I had just thought the same thing. I also like the lump of coal. But please don't get him anything that is related to your marriage you would be better off with the lump of coal.
gentle

Thanks guys,
I am having a little trouble with my computer, but I am so glad I got to read all your great suggestions. Gave me a chuckle.
He doesnt wear ties, so he would know what my thoughts are if I got him one of those.
The wine or coffee or something for his apartment are good ideas. I also thought of a video, but then againg he left his James Bond ones here that he had been collecting. Maybe I could wrap those up and give them to him.
I guess I should go with the true spirit of giving and give him something I know he will enjoy, I am just being petty and trying to think of something he could not share with OW. Of course he could share poisen ivy with her and I wouldn't be too upset ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Lora
Lora,
I just thought this... if you buy anything for your H it's very possible OW will use it too.. so how about buying something disposable? or something like a box of chocolate.. or something you don't mind throwing out if you ever get back with him .
Let us know what are you going to get ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) .
Meg
