I decided to take advantage of a special offer from my internet/cable company for free installation and 30 days free cable internet service. I made the arrangements and have an appointment for the guy to come tomorrow to install it.<P>Only one minor problem... The cable is still in my husband's name, and the cable company requires the signature of the account holder in order to do the installation. Well, I was trying to think of alternatives, but couldn't come up with anything that I was willing to try to do... which left only two options: cancel the installation or contact my husband.<P>I finally decided to call him at work and ask him if he would sign the paperwork. So I called, explained what was going on and told him that I would need him to sign paperwork for it. He asked what paperwork, and I explained that it was stuff about understanding the rules and policies and the promise to pay the bill. He said ok. I asked him if I could bring them over to his job for him to sign tonight, and he said he was leaving in a little while. I was surprised, because it was only a little after 5 pm and he usually works on Sundays until 9 pm, so I commented something like "oh - you're not working until 9 tonight?" He told me the company holiday party was tonight. I didn't ask why it was so long after the holiday, just said, "Oh."<P>At that point he said he would come over Monday and sign them... asked me when the guy from cable was coming. I told him anywhere between 9 am and 12 pm, and he said he would try to be here around 9 am, as he had to go to the bank, anyhow, and asked me if I would be there. I told him I had taken the day off from work to take care of it. He said again he would be there in the morning.<P>Just like that - no hesitation. So, I guess I will be seeing him in the morning.<P>In the meantime, I have been tearing my apartment apart, because I am preparing for my landlord to have the living room floor redone... so, he will be seeing the place at its all-time worst... It was strange. The guy from cable got here at bit after 9am, and there was no sign of my husband. I worked on the installation with him and it is (sort of) working (anybody familiar with two way cable modem technology, and how it works... and trouble shooting?). Finally, my husband arrived around 10am or so. I gave him the papers and he asked me what was in them. I gave him a brief summary and he then asked me "Are you tied to any time limit with this?" At first I couldn't figure out what he meant, but then he said it again and I repeated what I'd understood he'd said. He was asking me if I was contracted to a minimum amount of months that I HAD to continue the service. I said no, and so did the cable guy. He added, "I was just wondering ... you know, in case you decide you don't like it or can't afford it or something."<P>Or something? Kind of a weird question ... <P>Then he took his coat off and went over to the stereo. He had months ago said he would hook up another amp/receiver that we had to the stereo so that I could have some music, considering that my old amp/receiver had stopped working last March. Then he played with the cats a few minutes and then he had to go - he didn't feel real well, as he'd been out to a party and had a bit much to drink, I guess.<P>I was cool, cheerful... not in any way needy or anything. Last thing he said was to let him know how the service worked for me.
