Okay, my DH(the ex-cheater) and I have been in recovery for 2+years now (woohoo!). We have a "date" to go see Cast Away Saturday (we hardly ever get away without the kids and these are special). You that have seen it tell me the truth--is this movie gonna make me all sad or pissed off again about adultery???????? Or it there a kind of "excusable" part to this that can help you overlook it, sort of, if you've been in recovery as long as I have??? (I usually post on the pregnancy/OC board but I'm hoping to get a bigger sampling here.)
Blessings to all in pain,
Jenny

I recently saw Castaway. I am not in recovery and did not see it with my H.
But, I think it has a really important message for all of us.
I realize, this is my perspective, based on this 13 months of "un" reality.....but, I found the movie promoted...values such as perserverence...hope....faith....learning lessons in life....
Therefore, I think it is a wonderful movie for you and your H to see.
Also, depending on what all you went through...you may really identify with Tom Hanks character...I know I did.
I feel like I am "trapped" on a island, I can't get off of with only a basketball to talk to!!!!!!!! I feel like I am battling insanity at times like the Tom Hanks character. I feel like the only way to get off the island....is myself (and faith)...no matter what waits for me when I get off!!!
enjoy it!!!!

Hi Jenny...
I've been out of town for 5 days...just logged on and found this. Funny you should ask about this...I posted this thread here early last week: http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/Forum37/HTML/006891.html
It was about this movie.
I am in the process of untangling my heart with another woman with whom I had no business getting involved with. But it happened. And we are talking some pretty strong emotional ties here. When I saw the movie...it really hit hard. There is no "adultery" in this movie, to speak of. But without ruining the film for you, if your husband was very attathced to the other woman...it could possilbly stir up some feelings...
There is the pain of having to 'let go' of someone that you are unable to have...because of a marriage commitment.
IT was handled (in the movie) I believe in a decent way.
My two cents worth.

Thanks for the help guys. It sounds like we can handle it... though I might think of the feelings the XOW thinks she has for my H.

Jenny, I felt like I worked so hard on that island that it took me a moment to figure what might be the problem with this movie.
Considering Hollywood, I think the story line was handled very tastefully, and we've been reconciliated 8 months and I didn't find it worse than, say, any night or program on TV.
