Sometimes I can't win for losing. Heard from SIL today - boy is she PO'd at her sister (my WS wife) - who never communicates with her. She said her Mom finally got in touch with my wife. One of the things MIL asked her was did she like the new au pair? My wife went into orbit with her Mom wanting to know how she knew the new au pair was here? Duh, they knew we were getting a new one. But this immediately became "evidence" that someone had been talking to me - their son-in-law of all people! How dare them!!!!! Actually, I innocently sent SIL a picture of our son and the new au pair last week. Read - I get along good with in laws and I think it's OK to continue to do so despite my wife's behavior.
Paranoia strikes deep. Into your heart it will creep.
WAT

Oh Dave, how dare you continue a good relationship with your in-laws after your wife has left. Don't you know that when you said "I do", they slipped a little "do you promise to dump your in-laws if your wife has an affair that isn't an affair" into it? Tisk tisk.
Mine is picky about this too. Apparently, it is "weird" that I went to their post-xmas gathering. They are all flabbergasted at what she is doing.

Yup - just try following the bouncing ball!
Am I right - she doesn't want me communicating with her family - or any of her other friends - because she's ashamed of what truths I may reveal? If this is the case, then she's no where close to facing herself or is still in denial of the whole sordid experience. Which means there's still a chance she'll hit bottom and the light will go one and she'll get all humble and THEN blame it all on me! Sorry for the sarcasm. Actually, this to me means she's still deep into denial and is justifying her behavior as something her family and others won't understand. Well, she's right.
Dave
