I am going through a really rough time with my OS. I don't know what to do, he doesn't listen to me or obey me, he doesn't respect me at all. I don't trust him any more, he knows this, he is sullen, resentful. I don't know how much is related to all my H & mine problems or how mush is just normal teenage rebellion.
When H returns guess this will have to be discussed, we never did have the talk he wanted to have, .......

sing,
One thing you can be sure of is that my thoughts are with you and I hope that things get better. Since my children are younger, I don't have any advice regarding teenagers. A co-worker goes through some difficult times with her teenager, so I certainly feel for you. You are always on the scene when anyone is going through rough times and vents on here, so know that we are here for you too.

dear Sing
Afraid i cannot be much help re kids - didnt have any but "inherited" H's two boys as teenagers when we married and they spent some time with us; they were revolting; rebellion, drugs (One of them). if it is any consolation they have grown into really nice young men - now 29 AND 31 ie 15 years later. I wonder whether focussing on your kids and leaving "the situation" aside for a bit mught help you and H reconnect. Eg. - what about saying to him - "yes, we have our problems - lets put them to one side while we do our best together for our kids - let's deal with this together regardless of our situation". Just a thought.
I have sent you an e-mail - finally !
R

Hi sing - thinking of you. Hand in there. The teen years are tough. I've been reading up in anticipation since my son is 12, going on 25.
It may have been Mark Twain or Will Rogers who told the story about when he was 17, he couldn't believe how ignorant his father was. Then, when he was 21, he was amazed at how much his father had learned in only four years.
Dave

Dave, It was Mark Twain.
One of the wisest statements anyone every made to was when I was pulling my hair out when OS was in the terrible 2 stage, they told me the terrible 2s lasted till they went to college.

[This message has been edited by sing (edited February 04, 2001).]
