note:
I'm posting this for PJ. For those of you who don't know, she entered a treatment center three weeks ago. I'm very proud of her. She is getting real honest, and working so hard. She can't post now, of course, but please feel free to respond - I'll send them to her.
db
--------------------------------------
Hi friends,
I hope you are all well. I’m halfway through my treatment and I am doing fine. I am so grateful to have found this place. The treatment is for sexual compulsivity, but the majority of the clients also are chemically dependent. The center is actually an old mansion. It sure must have been quite an impressive home back in its day, beautiful woodwork and stain glass windows. Lots of structural integrity. The maximum number of clients is 14.
Our days begin promptly at 8:00 and we are in group meetings all day. They do a comprehensive in take, you meet with the psychiatrist (weekly) and each group has two therapists to lead it.
One of the first things I had to do was write my life story. It was painful, but I knew that I had to in order to recover. The program is really structured to help deal with trauma and why we act out. Whether it is drugs, sex, food, alcohol. We hide out feelings with acting out.
Here we are learning how to deal with pain we had our entire lives plus learning to deal with the pain we inflicted upon others. Honesty is number one here. They demand complete disclosure to the significant other. The staff is great and the family therapist is wonderful. We look at the ‘traumas’ in out lives and how they shaped us early on and how that got recreated later in our life. It is wonderful to be able to work through the pain. I have learned that it is ok to be vulnerable. I have cried more in the past three weeks than I have my whole life. I really feel myself changing. I hope and pray that my family can recover from this. David is very supportive of my treatment and that helps. My recovery, I believe will help him to recover from this nightmare.

Take care; you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
PJ
David,
Please tell PJ, that my prayers are with her and you. I truely hope that once her treatment is over, she will be able to be the wife she wants to be, the mother she wants to be, and most of all the human she wants to be.
I also hope that when her treatment is over and she is who she wants to be, that this person is someone you can love and cherish.
God Bless,
JL

David, I'm so happy to hear that Jane is doing so well. Please let her know that she's in my thoughts and prayers. She was a great help to me when I first came to these boards, something I haven't forgotten.
I know that you two will be fine. Jane has taken a great step to insure that your marital recovery is complete, as well as dealing with her own demons. It takes a great deal of courage to do what she has done.
Please give her a {{{{{{BIG HUG}}}}}}
