Hi AGoodGuy:
Making it easier on herself...that's the name of the game.
If she can get you to agree that everything was done to save the marriage then she's somewhat let off the hook.
Keep her wriggling (Gee, I'm stuck on fishing today, aren't I)...this was her choice...there's no need for you to agree with her...not if you feel that there were and are other options to save the marriage. You have a right to your own opinion...even if it differs from hers...hold on tight...this is something that makes her very uncomfortable...and probably something that you will have to just agree to disagree on...since you probably cannot change her mind.
Faye

Agoodguy -
Stick to your guns. . .She is the one who saw separation as the only option. If she were willing to try and rebuild your marriage, try to make things work, she should have given it a 100% effort from the beginning. By 100% effort, I mean, she should have broken contact with the OM - and given it at least one year without contact before deciding to end the marriage.
I agree that you shouldn't explain her decisions to your parents - that if she wants to explain her actions - then she should do it herself. She is the one breaking up your family - not you. There's no reason for you to agree with her decisions. Yes, you cannot be at a stalemate, but you don't have to like the direction that she is heading in. It's funny that she's trying to conform you to her thoughts - and she doesn't want to conform to yours - that your marriage can be saved. Sometimes, you just have to agree to disagee - that you don't believe that this is the only option. Hang in there.
