I just found out a couple of weeks ago that my husband was having an affair. I was curious about counseling, in a way I'm afraid that it will make it worse but I wanted to get some opinions if possible. Thanks

LMarie,

I ams oo sorry to hear this as happened however you are not alone. Most of us here are inthe same situation.
Are you and H going together? Counceling can be wonderful both one on one and with H. If you are looking to repair your marriage make sure you find one that agrees with MB principles. There are alot of books out there too. Eduacate yoyrself, and do the counceling thing. It may take a while to find one you are both comfortable with. Starting with an initial consult with the Harleys would be great.
Good luck in your situation, come here and post often you will find that everyday is a new day when dealing with infedlity. Everyone here is in a different stage and there is a alot to learn here.
Diana

Lea,
You should check out the post in Just Found Out forum from NSR, titled something like Welcome to New Builders. Read and learn about affairs, and about making marriages work.
Perhaps you could tell us more so we can try and help you. I'm not sure why you'd think counselling would make it worse. Can you expand on that a bit? Has he admitted the affair, is it still going on, does he want the marriage to work, are you both willing to go to counselling?
[This message has been edited by Rick37 (edited April 01, 2001).]

I caught him, not with the OW but I found the evidence and some e-mails. He broke it off with her and is willing to go to counseling but I'm afraid that if there are any past hurts brought up that will make my Husband resentful again. He said that he's resentful that it took him having an affair for me to want to save our marriage. I don't know why it took that mmuch but I wish it hadn't. I've been battling depression for many years and I tend to be very angry or negative. I'm afraid that all of that will come out in the counseling sessions and will just be a reminder. I don't know if that makes any sense. I would rather hash out my depression issues in individual counseling. Lea
