Is it harder for engineers? We tend to think in such logical terms. Everything must have an answer. But when it comes to affairs...
There is no logic. There are no answers.
Are there any other engineers out there?

I am not an engineer, but was a finance major in college and also think very logically. Yes, I think it is more difficult because as you said, there is no logic to the situation. I also tried to analyze everything my H said while having his A, as to whether it was a positive or negative thing for our relationship and his decision on whether or not to stay with us.
I know that worthatry (Dave) and Rick are also engineers, and I believe that there are others. Guys??
Another engineer here. I doubt that dealing with the affairs was any harder for me than for anybody else, regardless of my profession. I do know that my analytical background and technical knowledge enabled me to snoop very effectively. I became very efficient at noticing the smallest detail out of place, etc. I don't know if that helped or hurt, though.
--
o2bsane@hotmail.com
Yes, I believe that it is much more difficult for the analytical.
As for myself, I try to analyze everything. When I found out about my W's EA, I kept on pushing until I could understand. I still don't understand but, now I know way more that I think I ever would have wanted to.
It was kind of like walking in on the A.

How about your WS is a engineer ? And how about the OW is a engineer also ? That is my situation.
I think they should be the one with a clear head, but they are soooo "fogged". I am the one doing all the analyzing and I am a artist.
What a mess!

Wow, Trying to Live 2!!! I must be your evil twin!!
My WS/H is an engineer and the OW is a Astronomer (they work at the same place). I am a graphic designer! Isn't that weird!!
I too have tried to anylize it to death...there isn't any logic to it. And yes, it is a mess! The problem with some engineer/scientific types is...they OVER-anylize things....at least that's the case with my H. When he couldn't make heads-nor-tails of it all, he just went with his feelings and turned his head off (his words, not mine).
Anyway, I don't think it's any easier or harder for any one particular type of person....getting your heart ripped out hurts like h*ll no matter what "type" you are.
Aloha,
Mrs.O

Well, I'm an engineer...H is an engineer...OW is an engineer...
Great Googly-Moogly...with all that analyzing going on, how the heck did this happen to us?? <<--(retorical question)
I don't know that it's harder, but I do know that it is sometimes different from the way non-engineers look at things.
It's rough all around. But we'll get through it.
All the best.
--HBC

My H has the mind of an engineer, and is kind of a cousin in a very regulated highly techical job. Yes, it is harder. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/rolleyes.gif)
[This message has been edited by FaithHopeLove (edited April 24, 2001).]

... Analyzing can hurt recovery, though, and it's true that the BS spouse has to accept that WS's actions are not logical, sensible or subject to reason. Best of luck getting through this! octavia99
[This message has been edited by octavia99 (edited April 30, 2001).]

HBC- your response satisfied my humor cravings for this morning!!!
Suffice to say that it's darn hard for everybody - hardest thing in my life. Those of us who want to understand things, regardless of our profession or education, have a harder time, I think - but the relative difference is probably insignificant compared to the magnitude of the pain and frustration for all.
WAT

If I may...
Engineers...are also human.
And humans...are 'flawed'.
And human hearts can be deceptive.
Especially when they are in search of a needed love.
