Sing, I too was married to what I thought was a "Christian", he was a deacon and very respected in our church and community. I know that my two teenage sons are having the same trouble with their dad's fall as your son is. My older son (17) has turned his back on God due to this. I guess he feels like his dad was a hypocrite and if that was christianity, he doesn't want a part of it. My younger son (15) has chosen to get closer to God during this time and many times has been my "rock" through these past 15 months. I too have used the example of David, Moses, Jonah and many others in Bible to show that there is not another human being that is worthy of being put on a pedistal. THe most important lesson is that every other human will let us down, God is the only person that will never let us down and during these horrible times, it is so much more important to realize that. I have had to surrender everything and trust God with everything as I have no where else to go. THe good thing I see in the religious vs non-religious outlook, is that we know that God is in control and the outcome he already knows and we cannot do anything to change things, he is and will turn something so bad into something so good. We must trust in our faith to see us through to the end. And better yet, we have eternal life to look forward too, thank God that this life here on earth is not all there is. When I get down, I focus on Heaven and know that there will be no more hurt, no more tears and I can hardly wait. Don't you wish everyone knew Jesus Christ and his free gift. Hang in there, Sing, last time I checked, God is still on his throne and will not get off and will not forsake you! Love, SEF

I've been away for a few days and this one caught my eye when I came back to check in.<P>What I would suggest, sing, is that in making your husband your son's hero, you were well-intentioned but mistaken. As others have said, when we place other humans on a pedestal we are bound to be disappointed. As Christians, we should always strive to keep our eyes only on Jesus Christ as our example, never on each other.<P>Your son's reaction is not abnormal and I would encourage you to love him through this difficult time while standing firm on your faith. God is big enough and all-knowing enough and loving enough to stand up to your son's anger. Pray daily that He will put people in your son's path who can help him separate his anger at his father from his faith. God didn't let him down, his dad did. God is as broken-hearted by your husband's betrayal as you all are. But most importantly God can put the broken pieces of your lives back together....with or without your husband.<P>I don't know your circumstances...if your husband has ended his affair and is committed to restoration. If so, give your son some room to be angry and to express that anger in appropriate ways. It is a legitimate anger and your husband must understand that. Don't accept disrespectful behavior, but give him some leeway in his feelings. My husband took a few steps back from discipline with our children for a little while. We agreed that this didn't open the doors for defiant behavior towards him on their part. But at the same time, I made sure they understood that he was their father and that they owed him their respect as children to an adult.<P>Again, I don't know the details here, but will tell you that if you are on the track to restoration and will allow God to work, you can see your husband and sons have a beautiful relationship in the future. We are well past the three year mark now and I believe my children love their father and respect him. They have a great relationship and I know that God is the foundation of it.<P>Don't panic.....stay in a constant attitude of prayer and let God work this out. He isn't going to abandon your son for his attitudes and you may see that your son's walk with Him will be all the stronger in the future for having weathered this crisis.<P><P>------------------<BR>"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31
