The paranoid side of me was right. She used the counseling to tell me that she filed for divorce yesterday. She said that she didn't think that I would ever get over the affair so she filed. I told her that it was an excuse to make herself feel better.
[This message has been edited by sadandconfused (edited May 15, 2001).]

S&C
Im so sorry. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I think you should contest the divorce, dont give it to her. Tell her that you love her, and you dont want a divorce. Dont let her use this "you cant get over my affair" crap. Just sound like to me that she it wanting all of the guilt off of her. DONT give her the divorce.
If she thinks that you cant get over it, then show her you can by contesting the divorce.
PLAN A like crazy..

------------------
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

She's desperate.
She continues to lie - didn't she tell you this meeting was not about filing?
Oh, I forgot, she said she wasn't going to SERVE you the papers at the counselor's. Dave, how could you? You didn't ask the right question!
Can you look at it this way? This just shows - one more time - that she is totally screwed up. You hurt, but that's because you are rational.
Life without a brain - painless.
OK, don't do any thing for a day or two, except go have a beer. This ain't over.
WAT

Unfortunately, I think it is over. Here in Texas you cannot contest a divorce and its over in 60 days. In that time, I am going to fight for custody of my children. When I do that, she will become even more angry and more ugly about everything. I am not sure how I can Plan A and fight for custody of my kids at the same time.
dave
S&C

Dont contest the divorce,,, send her a bouquet of roses and ask "how do you know what I am capable of if we have never been down this road? can we try?
I dont know if this is possible and how you would feel to do such a crazy sounding thing,, but sometimes it is one word that turns people around... I for one filed on my H in January and with the words that he said and the commitment he showed I CANCELED everything ,, I lost 1800 dollars and I have not regretted it...
I am praying for you.

Dave - well, what you've been doing hasn't worked, so why not try something different?
What did the counselor say?
I like the roses idea - or anything else that would catch her offguard.
WAT

So, so sorry at this awful news. But please don't think it's the end yet - after all Liz Taylor married Burton 3 times didn't she? You might try looking at it as going into Plan B, or look at it as an opportunity to go find someone else who can love you the way you deserve to be loved. If there's one thing this website has taught me, it's that there are an awful lot of caring, compassionate and loving people out there, and not all men are b******s LOL!!
Keep your head up high, hugs, Paint
