I know it's wrong but I can open up my H's email backup in notepad. However, the only thing I can make out is the email address. Does anyone know how to decode the rest? Much appreciated...

If the file extention is .dbx, there is company that has freeware to read the files. Don't have their name right now. Do a search on "read dbx file" and it should come up.<P>

You might want to search the net for that extention then. Also, I have found that some of the files are actually all ASCII. So they can be listed out using the "type" command in DOS.<P>Hope that means something to you.<P>E

Too bad he doesn't use a Mac. You could just crack into the PRAM and find out everything. It's how I found out that my H was looking at porn sites on the Internet. <P>belld

I have not been able to find a way yet to read the .pst or .PAB files. They are binary files.<P>As far as seeing which web sites a person is going to look in the Cookies or "Temporary Internet Files" directories. If you don't know where these are, you can use the Find option in the start menu to search for them.<P>You might want to look at the web site <A HREF="http://www.iopus.com" TARGET=_blank>www.iopus.com</A> they have software that can monitor everything that goes on on the computer. It will run in stelth mode. If you used this software, it would record the password when it is entered. That would give access to the mail account directly. <P>The only problem I see here is that it's a form of sneaking around which is dishonesty. A major LB. That has to be weighed against your need to know.<BR>

Terrified -- PAB and PST files are create in Microsoft Outlook.<P>PAB stands for Personal Address Book<BR>PST stands for . . .well I really don't know what it stands for, but it is a file known as a Personal Folder. To view the contents, you need to open the file from within Outlook.<P>Be aware however, that the file can be password protected, and if it is, can be very difficult to get into.<P>Hope this helps.<P>God Bless
