Last night I sat in bed and wrote down a list of everything I had achieved yesterday. Little things - like taking the trash out, unloading the dishwasher, calling my parents, writing in my journal. In the end I had a list of 26 things
and I wrote on the bottom of the page 'Way to Go!!' and a smiley face. Such a small thing to do, but it made me feel a little better. During these dark days when it's such a struggle to even get out of bed in the morning, I needed to remind myself that I WAS achieving, in small ways, throughout the day. It suprised me exactly how much I had got done yesterday, because I was feeling really down and it seemed as if I had spent all day lying on the couch feeling depressed, but when I wrote down what I'd got done - well it made me feel as though I'm still surviving, I'm still alive, still hanging on in there.
Just thought I'd share! I'm off to stick my 'achievement award' on the fridge now...
hugs, Paint

This is an excellent exercise and a great idea. I think these little affirmations can do powerful things. Add this to your list: you shared your idea with other people who can benefit from it. Well done!

Didn't Oprah used to talk about that type of journal writing all the time? Something about listing at least 10 good thoughts about yourself, or what you've done that day, ack! I cannot remember! Can anyone else?
Karen
