My husband or 17 years had a one-night stand with a younger woman at work (almost 20 years younger). He says that this is only contact they have had outside of work and that he has explained to her that he wants to stay married and work on our problems. He and I have are very open and talk about his feelings and my feelings and what led him to her. I have this feeling that he will never completely get over his infatuation with her if they still work together. He thinks that he will. I am willing to do whatever it takes to make our marriage work and I think he does too.
Can you get past this when the other woman is still in your husband's life?

jferfrog:
Welcome to MarriageBuilders (MB) (although we all regret the circumstances).
Continuing to work with the other woman (OW in MBese) makes it extremely difficult (although not impossible). If you have not already, read the material on this site pertaining to affairs. In addition, you will want to read Dr. Harley's Surviving an Affair (if it is not available in your local bookstore, you can order it from this site). Other good books by Dr. Harley are His Needs, Her Needs and the one on affair-proofing your marriage.
This forum exists for you to explore ideas, draw comfort from, and ... when the occasion warrants ... to vent (better here than to your spouse). This forum exists also for the BS (betrayed spouse) as well as the WS (wayward spouse) as a place to learn and heal.
You will find many that will offer you the benefit of their insights and experiences. Again, welcome to MB.
Godspeed,
STL
