I am a very strong believer that the Lord will take care of me. Emotionally I am a wreck. My husband had an affair with his brother's wife 14 years ago and I changed and made things work. A year ago my husband chose to have a friendhsip with another woman that I consider being adulterous. He doesn't. I have faithfully using the book "Power of a praying wife" and thought I was make some progress when he just recently chose to participate in a project with this woman. He was asked not to do it and was aksed to fight for his marriage. I ended up saying some very horrible things and I knew the devil had a hand in it but I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I need a lot of prayers that my husband realizes that he is being led by the devil. I also believe that my huband has an addiction for this woman and moving is out of the question. The woman does live in another town but my husband uses a cell phone, calling card the the internet to continue this relationship. For awhile I was convinced that he was not in touch with this woman and he was making a half-hearted attempt to try. He does not respond to anything I say. He is truly being led by the devil and how can I get my marriage on track again?

hi ELL,
*sigh....why oh why??
well...i think i can help answer your question. I too am a beliving christian and yet, i am the betrayer.
It seems that when you are on a good page, your spouse isnt even in the same book??
the key is to get on the same page. Prayer works, God answers....but hon....to tell you the honest truth? your hsuband has to be the one who has to pray for the desire for the other woman to be put OUT. YOU continue to pray OVER your husband...at night...lay your hands on him and pray that the lord would take that desire and turn it twoards you!
unfortunelty...when you then look at this "humanly" and not spiritually..life is so difficult......LORD WHY ARE YOU NOT LISTENING?? WHY IS HE STILL DOING THIS?
yep.....devils got his hand on him and the biggest reason is...marriage is a convent between YOU, your HUSBAND and GOD...during sex...it is the only time that you are in complete unity. when sex is taken outside the marraige, you are then involving god....and a broken convenant in marriage. and a sexual sin is one of the HARDEST 'ADDICTIONS" THAT THERE IS to get over. the lusty feelings towards the OP is something that takes some very big disipline and effort and a heck of a lot of prayer and dedication to the Lord.
I know that dudring our hard times, i com e here and moan and cry and complain, but, i keep my eyes focused on the Lord because other wise I could get myself into a whole lot of trouble. the LORD keeps my desire focused on my husband, in all ways....sexual, spiritual, ect ect.
the power of a praying wife is a very annointed book, and the writer is a very annointed woman. here on MB there is a bible study for women section and they were going to get that started again. Most of the women who post there are going through what you are and have a lot more insight than I.
i wish you all the blessings and that god would restore your love and your marraige and your husgands love in the Name of Jesus!! amen......(L)
god bless,
mercy

Mercy thank you for your words of encouragement. I am going to try praying over my husband tonight. The ironic thing is that my husband is a Christian also but he has lost his way for whatever reasons. One minute is is acting like the husband that God created and then he is distant.

Ell:
Consider this: God answers prayers in mysterious ways. What spirit moved you to come to MarriageBuilders? God gave you the free will to help Him help yourself.
As for Satan forcing your husband to have the affair, he merely provided the temptation: your husband then chose to have the affair. Believe it or not, the devil plays by the same free will rules. He is fully content knowing that if he puts temptation in a human's path, they are going to give in about 50 percent of the time ... good enough for him.
From your post, you have faith: that is a good thing. Faith, combined with the MB principles is a very powerful catatlyst toward marital recovery.
Prayer helps, indeed it does, that is one form of action. The other is to read the material here (click on the "Concepts" link, if you haven't done so already). I would recommend very, very highly that you read Dr. Harley's Surviving an Affair and His Needs, Her Needs as soon as possible. If there are no bookstores locally that carry it, you can order from this site.
In SAA you will read about the no contact rule. He may not be at the point where he is ready to do that. That is what Plan A is about: for you to fulfill his emotional needs (that the OW is currently meeting), and for you to work on yourself.
And finally, a belated welcome to MarriageBuilders. Glad you found us, but regret the circumstances.
Godspeed,
STL
[This message has been edited by SeenTheLight (edited July 05, 2001).]
