Ok....so I'm talking on ICQ to a woman who is going through a similar situation as my own....I've tried to guide her here.....but she says it's too late.
This is one of the most confusing situations I've ever heard....and I'm sure glad I'm not the secretary at the lawyers office that her MIL called.
Sec: So and So Law Offices.
MIL: Yes...I want some information on divorce procedures.
Sec: Are there children involved?
MIL: Yes
Sec: Then you definately want a lawyer.
MIL: Well...it's not for me...it's for my daughter-in-law.
Sec: We would need to set up an appt with your daughter.
MIL: No....for my daughter-IN-LAW. (stressing that)
Sec: Oh! (not really understanding)
MIL: My son is filing for divorce...we do not support him and we want to make sure our daughter-in-law is taken care of. We will pay the costs.
Sec: Ok.....you want to pay for your daughter-in-law's attorney fee's?? (she's flabbergasted)
MIL: Yes....is there a problem with that?
Sec: No....I'm sorry. I don't mean to sound rude but can I ask why you are not supporting your son on this decision?
MIL: Of course. He got married....created children....and then decided that he didn't want those responsibilites. We as his parents do not agree with his decision. We are looking our for our daughter-in-law who is much more like a daughter and our grandchildren.
Sec: Oh...this should be an interesting one.....sets up a time for an appointment.....chuckling.
Now.....I had to laugh as she was typing all this out for me.......it could have been my story made over....though I don't know that my in-laws would go that far for me.....even though they support me completely and have disowned their son. Gone so far as asking for the keys to their house and garage back...which he gave to me yesterday.
Just thought it was a little funny...that we could all get a little laugh out of.
