Saved to my computer.. reposted for those who need it.<P>Romantic love is the weakest, the basest, the most primitive of love. It is the infancy of love. It is that hear-fluttering, pulse-quickening feeling you get around the other person. It's not REAL love. It feels good, and a lot of times, we miss that feeling when we've been with the same person for a long amount of time.<P>However, what many people forget is that love is an ever-changing emotion. As it matures, it moves from that fleeting excitement to a more steady, comfortable safety/security feeling. Many people think that when the "passion" subsides, the love dies. They don't realize that the passion comes and goes, sometimes leaving for a long while, only to return stronger than ever. They think they've fallen out of love and they go looking for the excitement they once had, thinking that is real love.<BR><P>------------------<BR>Husband2You<BR>*****<BR>Don't make me promises <BR>Baby you never did know how to keep them well <BR>I've had the rest of you <BR>Now I want the best of you <BR>It's time for show and tell<P>'All or Nothing' © 2001 O-Town

A man in Fort Worth Texas called me when my wife began her affair.. he just finished the divorce with his wife who had gotten pregnant, was on drugs and had been in jail several times. She lost the baby to CPS and she was beating his door down to take her back.. It was a really sad situation.<P>He waited for her for 2.6 years and he slammed the door on her.. figurtively, and she hit rock damn bottom as Steve says they do. <P>------------------<BR>Husband2You<BR>*****<BR>Don't make me promises <BR>Baby you never did know how to keep them well <BR>I've had the rest of you <BR>Now I want the best of you <BR>It's time for show and tell<P>'All or Nothing' © 2001 O-Town

Very well put. Too bad other people (including myself) didn't know this or think about this sooner. S

Good synopsis. I missed it the first time you posted it, but I'm glad you bumped it up again.<P>I just read it to H. I was curious as to what he thought of it. All he could say was, "it's too philosophical sounding to me". But the point is, he sure didn't deny that there was truth to it! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]<P>Karen<BR>

H2Y,<p>This is so true, at least it is for me. I thought that love was supposed to be bubbly all the time and I began to question if my H and I were supposed to be together, if there was something wrong with us. Now I realize that the mature/comfortable love we share was exatly what we want and need. I wish I would have known this sooner. Thank you for the post. I hope thoses who are contemplating having an A will see this first. It is amazing what you learn about yourself and your M after having an A on any level.

Husband2you

Very good post.

There are many things that add to the richness of a person’s life. There are many ‘feelings’ that can give a person comparable highs/passion. Romantic love is nice. But so is the feeling one gets from meeting responsibilities, working with a spouse to build a good life, raising children, and being the best person one can be. These are all other forms of passion. I’ve found that feeling to be as strong as romantic love.

Often people get into affairs because suddenly they find passion again in another person. Anything that is centered in another person is fleeting.

There was a WS here for a long time that constantly said he was a passionate person and that is why he had the affair. He also said that the rest of us, the BS, were basically passionless. I argued with him that he was actually a person of little passion because a passionate person finds several outlets for their passions and is able to maintain the passion. They do not really need to find an OP to give their life meaning again. He, of course, said I was full of it.

Ha! You know who I was talking about. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Yes is his divorced now. And my marriage continues to get better and strong day by day…

By the way, a thought I almost forgot is to not forget that the goal of the MB concepts is to build a strong, passionate marriage… a more mature form of passionate love. So far I can say the concepts work.

I saw 'her' posting the other day of their D. Not to hijack my own thread.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> Sad for 'them' but happy for 'her', if ya know what I mean. There comes a point in time... and, oh never mind <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
