Okay.. I have this age issue. It's a personal thing (although not that uncommon) [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I was veering away off topic on another thread (sorry again peppermint) about the idea of different names for the 'oldtimers', 'veterans', 'experts', etc.
I see myself as being on here for a long long time, and when I reach the level of being considered an 'old timer', no offence to anyone, but I can't handle being called old! hehehe.
And as far as the term 'experts' go, I have 'issues' with that one too. I don't find it an appropriate term for this board, because we're helping each other with life issues and marriage building. And to my knowledge, there is no such thing as a life expert, right?
Okay, so this may be another one of my lame attempts to get people thinking of something other than their problems for a bit. (good ideas are hard to come by... LOL).
So? What new terms do any of you think would work?? (remember, rules are you cannot use something that implies old - that's for my age issues sake. ROFLMAO!)
Karen
Topie,
you stated your almost age on the other thread. Sweetie, you are just a pup! I like being "over 40". Look better than I did at 30, except maybe for the crow's feet when I smile, but at least there have been enough times that I haved smiled to make them!
As for a new term...experienced, seasoned, hardtime survivors...we could refer to "recoverers", but I wouldn't want to leave out those who have recovered, yet had their marriage end by divorce. I can't think of anything that doesn't get wordy...or include age or span of time [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com].
Maybe somebody else is more creative....

I'm not shy to say my age... not in the least. I will be 30 in November 2002. There. I said it again! LOL
I"m thinking that I'll still be here when that event arrives, so I guess I'm trying to protect myself ahead of time! ROFLMAO!!
I'm not too creative either. This is a far more difficult post to answer to than I thought it would be, huh? [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Karen
Karen:
That is why I am now using the term "experienced people" (in an MB sense).
As for being experts: unless anyone is coming into the board with a degree in psychology or psychiatry, we are all just giving our individual insights and perspectives on situations and what the MB philosophy means.
Perhaps EP, then? Hmmm ... maybe not, too easily confused with OP. As Vanna White would agree, vowels are important.
Godspeed,
STL
[This message has been edited by SeenTheLight (edited July 28, 2001).]

I prefer and consider us "survivors". Whether we have survived with a recovering marriage or a new single role in our future, we have SURVIVED. Having made it through the infidelity war with our lives, our sanity (mine questionable [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]), with self respect and future goals says alot about all of us. Yes, saving our marriages is the goal of this site, but saving our lives comes first.

OK. How about "Practicing MB'ers"? You know, like Doctors are practicing medicine, we don't say they are Medical Experts (even though we let them perform surgery on us! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] )

N:
I like your concept. Survivor of Affair(s) ... or SA (essay, as each is a story in itself) might thus be a candidate.
Godspeed,
STL
