trustntruth,
I saw your response to my vacation game post just before I ran out the door. Thanks. How right you are about different personalities. I've always been aware of how well W patches my holes, so to speak.
When we got back this time we both had to decompress in seclusion (nothing unusual about this for us). W does cat herding with kids (for 2 day drive), I do all the driving. We both always seem a little "prickly" when we get home, nothing overt though.
Here's the update after we got back (Well, at least it's over. Now what?)
(For anyone else who's interested, here's the "before" post:Playing the vacation game.)
I really cringe reading what I wrote then. What a difference a week makes. But, looking back, I think I really did have a good time. Maybe we'll do better as a couple next year.
So, my question is this: Where can we take the Kiersey Temperament Sorter? I hope this is something that we can do non-professionally. Sigh, always stuff to work on. Should be fun, though.
--Jeffers
P.S. I must confess that I used this post as an excuse to try out links for the first time. In all of the counseling my H and I have had over the years, the single most important thing we learned were our Meyer's Briggs personality types (spelling?) There are 16, and if you don't know yours...you should! Their book is called "Type Talk" and I think you can take a more limited test on the internet if you search for personality types or tests.
It sure has helped us see our differences, why we communicate the way we do, why we annoy each other, etc.
I would urge anyone interested in marriage building to look into this. The actual test we took is pretty long, but fun to do. Now my H understands why my house is so important to me, my type is Host or Hostess of the World. And he also sees why it was so devastating that he was with OW in my bedroom.
Good luck

http://keirsey.com/
My type is a borderline e/i ENFP or INFP. "P" Planner is not my stronger point.
My husband is an ESTJ. He drives me nuts. But I sure love him, and now I don't despise him for being such an opposite. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Sorry I didn't see this sooner! Hope next year's vacation is more fun with your new appreciation for a "balanced" team approach. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
TnT

Thanks TNT.
Just did the test. I'm a Rational/Architect (INTP). My scores are pretty much in the peaks of the distributions.
W says I wasn't very "rational" to pay $15 to find this out.
She's looking at the site now too. (LOL)
Fascinating stuff. Just as I thought, I could be happily married to any personality type!!!! Rationals "greatly please their mates" (of course, I knew that).
Now, on to the Meyer's-Briggs (thanks maggierose).
--Jeffers

W turned out to be "Idealist". She won't pay money to find out the rest of the story.
"Marriage to an Idealist is probably the Rationals best option."
Hmmmm. I guess I'd better keep her.
--Jeffers
