My wife is experiencing lower abdominal pain. She had an affair 8 months ago and contracted Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. She took antibiotics for those and the disease cleared. However she still has pain in the lower abdomen. I was reading today that there is a link between Chlamydia and Cervical Cancer. I am wondering how fast cervical Cancer can develop after a sexual disease. The doctors here are very slow to diagnose anything. Anyone think my wife could have Cervical Cancer because of sexual disease?

I wouldn't get too excited before the diagnosis comes in. Maybe see a different doctor if the results are too slow for you?
She might have fibroids, which I have heard can be very painful, but are non-cancerous and can shrink without surgery simply by changing the diet to eliminate sugar & red meats as well as adding more veggies and fish.
If she is having differences in her menstrual cycle, such as, excessive bleeding, it could be a non-cancerous tumor that needs to be removed.
It's tough to say without a diagnosis. Unfortunately some things take time. Plus, they may require a biopsy before they actually have anything concrete to say.
Sounds like you might just have to reach into your pocket and grab some patience. Try not to worry. God is in control. His mercy endures forever. You survived the affair and STDs, you can survive this too! Hang in there! My prayers are with you!
[This message has been edited by BINthereDUNthat (edited August 27, 2001).]

Rodger,
I would get her back in for a recheck. Past exposure to Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can cause a condition call PID (pelvic Inflammatory Disease). There can be residual scarring and old pus in fallopian tube..can cause an abscess that is painful..can either be chronic or acute.
The cervical cancer link you're thinking about is HPV..a virus that causes warts on the cervix that can eventually lead to Ca of the cervix..In most cases, these cell changes happen gradually and are picked up on Pap Smear years before they progress all the way to cancer.. I'd recommend a pap smear every 6 months until you get 3 in a row that are normal and then return to yearly paps.
But, I would definately get her in for a checkup soon.
T
