Hi everyone!I'm new here so let me first tell you what happened before. For two years I have had some heavy depression and the medication I took for it really affected my marriage. My husband and I have been together almost 7 years and we have two small children. My reactions or lack of them while on anti-depressants caused a lot of feelings in him and he was unable to communicate them. I also lacked the energy for fun things. Near the middle of August he started flirting with a woman at work(he works in health care with a lot more woman than men)and it led to having a fling in the front seat of her car. He said he doesn't want to lose me and quit the job to get away from her all on his own.We have been working on our marriage the past weeks and things seem to be going good. This morning he came back from getting coffee and said that his ex-girlfriend who he has a child with(long story he hasn't seen her in years) waved to him and smiled. This woman hated his guts for so long, she lives near us,just around the corner and all of a sudden she is nice to him.She has a marriage with a man who she has since had children with. I told him not to talk to her and now I'm not sure if that was right. He sounded happy and I took it as meaning he was happy about her whereas he may have been happy about the possibilities it represents regarding the child they share. Here is my main problem and any advice would be appreciated.
1.I'am scared that he will cheat with her now. Is that unreasonable?
Sorry you are feeling insecure, but based on your husband's past performance, your concerns cannot be disputed.
I'm sure I won't be the first one to welcome you to Marriage Builders, and also wanted to mention the Policy of Joint Agreement that is one of Dr.Harley's basic concepts. The premise is that neither you nor your spouse does anything without the enthusiastic agreement of each other.
If you are not enthusiastically in agreement with your husband contacting his old girlfriends, then he shouldn't be either! That's basically the concept in a nutshell.
You can read more about it here:
http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi3500_policy.html
