The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie.
If you check out the link above to Amazon's listing, there are 22 excerpts from the book included.
I can't recommend this book more strongly. If you really want to Plan A, working on yourself, and focusing on what changes you need to make inside of you - this is will help!
There is alot of talk about alcoholism - but you can insert any addiction (including affairs) in it's place - the wisdom still applies.

BR - I've found this type of stuff ( audio books and text) to be just critical to my personal recovery and growth. Comparable, if not better than IC at 120.00 hr!
I've just ordered the audio version from Amazon!
Thanks

I'm glad you guys found this useful. I lent this book to a girlfriend going through a very rough time with her extended family - and she called me tonight and said she couldn't believe how much it helped her understand how she wasn't at fault for her families problems and how to let go with love.
Now I'll have to go get myself another copy I guess!! A bump....
Thanks, BrambleRose, for this recomendation...
This book has really grabbed my attention. Part of the reason, to me, is that it seems to tie in other books that have really helped ( eg, " 4 Agreements" and "Dance of Connection"..)..
I'm beginning to feel the way to get past this hell is with " doing and bieng" vs reading and reflection..
Dan

Thanks! This is just the information I was seeking when I asked you to recommend sources to obtain more information like the Detachment with Love post you wrote...(similar to AlAnon)

WOW! Would you believe that I bought that very book on Sunday. I was getting a gift for H birthday and walked by a table and noticed it there. It was the only one, someone must have been looking at it and sat it down on the wrong display. So there it was just waiting for ME! I can say that after 3 days it has really caught my attention. No dallying around, it gets right to it and asks some tough personal questions if you are brave enough to answer them truthfully. Also makes some very good points about living our own lives.
All this wisdom after only 3 days, I am looking forward to the rest of the year!

Bramblerose,
This book is wonderful! It feels like it must've been written just for me. Just wanted to say thanks again.
Talk about signs - I bought 2 books that night - "Language of Letting Go" and "Contrary to Love". I had never heard of Melody Beattie. I got home and was thumbing through them both and realized that she (melody beattie) had written the forward in "Contrary to Love". It was wild!
