Good gravy......three years???!!!! That is quite a long time to try to salvage a relationship. I'd call that "hard time." BTW, I've not seen a membership number in the three digit mode.....LOL! You are an honest to goodness old timer
This divorce seems to be okay with you? I'm not at all familiar with your story but it appears as though you aren't unhappy with the outcome.....or, are you? I know that divorce is not a goal of marriages yet sometimes it is the only answer.
I don't know whether to give condolences or cheers......help me here
[ December 30, 2001: Message edited by: GeezLouise ]

GL, Married 22 years. Wife had affair & took off after wankboy left. This after knowing him for only 4 months She has been gone since Feb 99. She came back for a week in May 99 to visit daughters (now 16 &10) and she has not been back since.
I filed and had it published in the paper as she would not let me know her whereabouts.
I wouldn’t say I’m “happy” with the outcome but I am satisfied. I would not/could not take her back under any circumstances. Too much water under the burnt bridge I guess...

Chris, I'm so sorry. I know how hard you fought this and how hard you tried. But it IS her loss. She will never find someone that cares about her as you did. Someday she will see that and regret her decisions.
But in the meanwhile, you have come out a "survivor". A wonderful compassionate man, a great dad, with a brand new future at your fingertips. Use it wisely Chris. Someone out there will be a very lucky woman someday. (((((Chris)))))))

Hi Chris, thanks for letting us know. How was your Christmas? What are your plans for New Years?
Does your wife even know she will be divorced in 16 days? Any discussion at all?
I remember that visit you had with her in May/99, when she told you that it was all about Pepsi or Coke. Sheesh.
Anyway, here is a toast to the best plan A'er there is - Chris. (Easy to win that one, when you never even got a chance to lovebust. . . . . . . sheesh!)
(((chris))) TNT

Hi Chris,
You know I found this site in Feb. 99. I read and read and finally registered and posted in Aug. 99. Yours was one of the first stories I read. I also remember the coke/pepsi episode.
You know one of the things that I decided was that I would continue to read and post here until YOUR situation was resolved. I guess I will be free to leave in 16 days. It is hard to believe it has been 3 years.
I suspect for you it seems like a life time. So much has changed. You have retired, gone to school, and obviously have learned how to be a successful single parent.
In this situation, I suspect that while it isn't the outcome you orginally wanted you have moved on and are now confident about your abilities and your future.
It is my strongest wish that 2002 is a very good and successful year for you. Both you and your daughters deserve it, big time.
Happy New Years and God Bless,
JL

Chris, I'm glad you updated. I think of you and your story often, as we landed on MB the same week. My H left the 2nd time 12/30/98 and I didn't know about the A yet (deep suspicisons, yes).
You've given me a lot of hope through the years. You are a successful recovery.

I'm from the same "era", too. Three years to find this sight sometime coming in January.
Chris, you've done it all with a quiet stength and dignity that put you in a league of your own!
Since I can't remember the "right" cola, I think I'll just eat a Bran Muffin in your honor! Hi Chris - best wishes to you for your continued recovery.
Of course I have always been baffled by my W's "family abandonment" after the loss of our son. Seems to a logical mind that a strengthening of the remaining family is in order rather than divorce and co-parenting for our remaining child whom we both love deeply.
But total abandonment of children by a mother is simply beyond my ability to fathom even after witnessing my wife's delusion.
You are a good man.

Chris, I found the boards in '99 as well and remember your story so well. I'm glad you were able to reach peace, resolution and closure. I wish you much peace and blessings for the future. No one tried any harder than you.

Hi Chris. It has been a long time. I found this board 3 years ago also, and it is hard to believe that 3 years have already passed.
Thank you for the update. It is nice to see some of the old-timers replying to your post. You are a survivor and I wish you and your daughters well.

Hi Chris,
I got here in '99 too. I learned early on that you were one of the best examples around. I only hope I can be as good a dad to my kids as you have been to your girls.
Best wishes.
