Touchy subject for me... tips pays the bills at my house. Women, please don't flame me... but men are better tippers. I think it's because women usually do the job at home for free
Snow

Snow, from the other side of the table, let me tell you that I often urge my husband to throw a couple more bucks on the table, and I've seen my mom and other women give their husbands the same nudge-- so don't be so quick to write us off!

Ooops, I really meant "server". There are no waiters and waitresses anymore, are there?
Snowwhite,
In our family I am MUCH the bigger tipper. If I tip too much W will sometimes pick it up. I have to run back after we walk out the door to restore the proper tip. I'm finding my tips are going up with age... maybe I no longer worry about having enough money. I used to wash dishes, so I understand the environment. Good tipping just seems to be one of those "nice" things one can do in life. I've read all of your other thread BTW. I hope you find it healing.
Cali,
Personal problem? Me, or him? He could probably tell I was wondering whether the adjacent female server was exhibiting thong lines under her slacks. Okay, okay... I did not say ALL women. I myself have always been a good tipper. My mom, too. And many of my female friends. BUT... even I tip based on the type of service I receive. It's always 15%. If the service is GREAT, it's more like 20%. If the server is cute, wearing a thong... hmm... doesn't affect my tip, but I may linger over my after dinner coffee
Snow
PS Jeffers, thanks for the support.
[ February 10, 2002: Message edited by: Snowwhite ]

jeffers... I'm sorry... my 'sarcasm' rarely shows through...
I was TEASING ...
Yep, I do know what you mean... give H the bill... ask me how things were...
As for tipping, my mom spent MUCH time as a waitress... I often overtip.... especially if it's an older person ...
Hugs...
Cali

Cali,
I knew you were teasing.
I was referring to my comment. It didn't look "light". But, then my comment on my comment looked weird, too. I was going to go back and edit it but I hate to do that after someone may have seen the original.... Just gives me another chance to respond
margue,
That one has my vote, too.
to anyone:
Why is it that the servers will always run up and ask you how things are when your mouth is full????
And then, when you're ready to get the check and leave, they've vanished???
Jeffers

Here's another tidbit.
If I go to a 'nicer' resaurant I always ask the server which entrees they prefer. Usually I pick one of the ones they recommend, then tell them how good a choice it was (cuz it usually is).
Jeffers

Two meals a day, five or six days a week, we know what's good. Or at least what we can tolerate eating month after month...
