Hey cajunky,
Your post jumped out at me since I’m about to do just that... re-marry my XW( and FWS). We first separated just over a year ago, we’ve been divorced since June, tried to work things out a few times(always in vain), started seeing each other a little a few weeks before Christmas and back together since early Jan.
Here’s a link to my summary:
http://www.marriagebuilders.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=37&t=015198
There are times when I ask myself "how in the world can I risk this again?" Sometimes I feel like it’s just a matter of time before the bomb is dropped again. Really, the times that I worry now are VERY rare and the scared feelings fade fast. Thank god for my X-wife(how many X-husbands can say that? ), she is SO understanding with my feelings now. She accepts that this is going to take time for me to feel completely comfortable again. She assures me daily that this will never happen again and she knows what she wants in life(which is me and our family). She goes out of her way to spoil me as much as she can. She is very patient with me and very loving. She wants this as much as I do, she wants to prove herself to me. She wants to get past this and live our lives together as much as me.
We may wait a few months before going through with it, but it’s only because we want to save a little $$$, take a vacation and get re-married then(I wonder if we’re getting wedding presents again ). We’re both ready to stop calling each other husband and wife and start “being” husband and wife. We could be spontanious and just go to the court house any day, but I hope we wait. Mainly because I want it to be a little more romantic and get a chance to do things right... like ask her father for her hand in marriage this time. He’ll get a kick out of that.. he loves me and it won’t be a problem, but I never did ask him the first time...
Anyway, we’re as good as husband and wife now. We’ve been living together in my apartment for about 2 months now. We're on the verge of moving in to a house together. And our relationship seems just as loving as it ever was... maybe even more... we both appreciate each other more. I HATE that it came to a divorce before we could ever really start a recovery, but if things keep going the way they have been(and I believe they will), then it’s all been worth it.
We’re both very happy with each other and our kids are noticably happier too.
TTFN - JB
[ February 19, 2002: Message edited by: kb4jb ]
