Oh Pepper, sunshine, please do not think this is a bad thing. I have known many people, my dear mother included, who owe their life to Prozac. If it works for you it is the greatest, if it does not, you will know it very soon, but either way it is just one step towards a better you. Whatever you do, please sweet friend, do not think any less of yourself because you have asked for help. The worst sin you can commit against yourself is not asking for the help you need. Whatever it takes to get thru this time of trial, more power to you........ best wishes and love

Pepper!!!!!!! Hooray for you! When I was in the fourth month of my separation I realized that I couldn't lie on the couch, stay in my jammys and not shower for one more day and I went to a shrink. Believe me, the last thing I wanted to do was go on some kind of medication. But, thank God for it. Antidepressants - they are "good things" as that crazy lady Martha says.
Love you, BB

You guys have blended so well, I was wondering if you were still here! I'm on Zoloft, for about 2 or 3 years now. It works, when I take it. I need to take it, right now! Funny story: I was in Walmart and the cashier asked about my 3 kids. I was buying a pregnancy test and he commented on that. He said, "I wonder how you do it." I said, "Thank the Lord for Zoloft!" And down the line behind me, a scatter of "Amen." So many are on some form of anti-depressant.
One woman told me her mother was afraid of her personality being altered. Give me a break. I am more myself on the stuff than off. I actually like who I am. Besides, it truly is a life-saver. Mine, and others around me.

Hoping4future - you remark about "personality changes" intrigues me. I probably suffer from a social anxiety disorder and my counselor also told me I might be some kind of depressive where I'm not really depressed, but I don't reach the same highs as other people. She suggested I go see my GP and get a prescription for Paxil. I've suspected about the social anxiety ever since I started seeing commercials for it on TV, but had always thought that it's part of my personality and maybe taking a drug to alter that isn't so good. Now that I'm reevaluating my life, I realize that I have suffered greatly because I'm afraid of social situations and try to avoid them at all costs, and am seriously considering making that appointment.

{{{{{{Pepper}}}}}!
The minimum dose of Zoloft made a major change in my life. About 2-1/2 years ago I saw a nurse practioner who agreed with my self-diagnosis diagnosis of panic disorder and got me started.
I had ignored the upset stomach, the feeling that I was having a heart attack or stroke, etc., etc., telling myself that it was just stress and all in my head. Finally my head decided to show me what it could really do, and made me feel so off-balance that I often needed something to hold onto in order to walk a few feet.
Zoloft (and Xanax to be used sparingly as needed) made a tremendous difference. I first noticed the Zoloft's effects when, after about 10 days, I was still unsteady but felt stronger about coping with it.
Now my personality is perfect in every way -- just ask dww!
Best of luck with your own results --
AH
P.S. The stress was mostly work-related, not a marriage issue.

Thanks guys!
You know that old saying ... physician (RNP) heal thyself ..... duh.
I think I'm having let-down depression. I held myself together through our son's 6 hospitalizations .... carried many of the family responsibilities upon my shoulders ... and now, as things are getting better ... I am "allowing" myself to finally fall apart .... now that it's "safe" for my family.
Feeling this depressed has "triggered" all sorts of affair issues that are not actually relevent currently. This is making me nervous ... I thought I had all those thoughts and feelings resolved and finished off.
I want my sense of humor and fun back .... I miss myself! Where did I go?
Pepper
