This started on the recovery board a couple of days ago thanks to Peppermint bringing it to our attention. We're trying to drum up enough support to hopefully get Chrysler to "pull" such negative advertising which undermines ALL marriages. Her is the post:
Thanks to Peppermint making a post yesterday about a print ad by Chrysler she found in a magazine, I have done a little more research on this ad campaign.
Chrysler DEFINITELY has an ad campaign CURRENTLY running called "Drive = Love" theme. It is both in print advertising and TV. The print ad (as Peppermint pointed out) features, "Drive = Love" / "With The Fire of An Affair!"
As many may recall, Chrysler has come under fire for two other ads that came out at the same time. One features a vehicle passing a snowplow during a snow storm and the other features hunters driving home with their dead deer on their Jeep. BOTH ADS WERE REMOVED FROM THE MEDIA with 72 hours of airing because of the numerous objections by state agencies and animal rights groups. The Love theme also had objections BUT there were obviously not enough. Here is what George Murphy, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President of Global Brand Marketing had to say in a recent statement made to the press, "the spot succeeds in emphasizing Chrysler's "Drive = Love" theme. And while older viewers might be turned off by the joke, the ad -- called Share the Love -- tested well with younger customers whom the Chrysler brand needs to avoid becoming an old-person's brand like Oldsmobile or Lincoln, Murphy said. "We're pleased with Share the Love." he said." Please see full article at Ad Troubles
The Love / Affair campaign continues to run in selected areas, that is until maybe people from this group can CALL, E-MAIL, DRIVE, FLY, what ever we can do, to stop this negative attack on marriage and family values!!!
I sent an e-mail Chrysler yesterday and was promptly answered back saying politely, that the ad campaign would continue to run, but they appreciated my feedback. I have since called the Chrysler Group HQ in Auburn Hills, MI and objected as well. (The ad agency responsible for all three ads is PentaMark / InterOne located at, 880 W. LONG LAKE ROAD, TROY, MICHIGAN 48098. Mike Vogel is the executive in charge at this office).
It has been like running into a brick wall trying to get information on this. I'm hoping other people from MB will also add support to try and squash this negative campaign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps...
MITT

MakingItThruThis,
Can we please get a phone number of the Chrysler Group HQ. I am so P/O'd about this.
Seems to me we (MB Members) could start a petition and circulate it amongst ourselves. It does not have to be a snail-mail petition, we can make it an E-Petition using email to circulate it. Altho, we need to be very careful not to imply we are affiliated or representing Marriage Builder's in any capactity.
All in favor, say "YAH"? Opposed, say "NAY".
Jo
[ February 28, 2002: Message edited by: Resilient ]

Geez, what is the real message here?
That a Dodge will be flashy and appealing in the showroom, but will soon run out of gas and become a HUGE liability that you'll only want to get rid of???? Wish they'd imply that in the commercial .... that their vehicles (OP) are all glitz, but can in no way go the distance.
Jo
[ February 28, 2002: Message edited by: Resilient ]
