No great surprise there, huh?<p>I saw my family doctor this afternoon as I mentioned in another post. I went through all of the ups and downs I've been feeling lately, and he gave me a prescription for "Celexa". I go back to see him in 2 weeks to make sure I'm not having any ill side effects from the meds.<p>H claims he has deleted all of the porn material off of our pc... but I don't have the desire to check on that yet. I'm watching out for his other actions. I'm more concerned that he fulfil my EN's. I need him to show me, not me check up on him, or 'remind him' for that matter.<p>Oh... mini vent about my dr here.... I talked to him a bit about my EN's and how my H needs constant reminders from me because he so easily 'forgets'. I told him that it isn't my responsibility to remind him ALL of the time for the SAME stuff, day in, and day out.... and my dr... well, he told me that men need those nudges because they have a tendancy to 'conveniently forget' things (like if it's their night to do the dishes). That's B.S.!! I know my dr. is nearing retirement... but goodness... isn't it a shame that his attitude is so ancient? [img]images/icons/shocked.gif" border="0[/img] Okay, dr vent over. Nothing of real concern.<p>I hope the Celexa helps. I am very glad that you went to see the dr. and got the prescription. I hate those stupid comments from dr's.<p>I'll tag on my doctor gripes: (1) My former family physician (changed shortly after this comment) upon hearing that my H had an A (hence my going to see him for STD tests) said, "Lots of couples have communications problems, that's probably why your H had an A. You need to talk to each other." Now, did he think that would be helpful??? (2) My H's former family physician (whom he no longer sees) after diagnosing mild chronic depression in H (which was actually a mis-diagnosis, as he missed H's GAD and anger attacks) told H that in many cases depression was caused by an unhappy relationship. When H told him that our relationship was one of the few things he was happy with, the doc then asked H whether he was "sure that he was really happy with me?" How responsible is it to suggest to a depressed patient that they should look more carefully at whether they are, in fact, unhappy with their spouse? Guess what ended up on H's list of the reasons why he had an A? Yup, "even my dr. thought our M was bad."<p>Sorry to add my doctor vent to yours. Cali: That's good to hear... both that I'm not the only one I know who's been on this pill, AND that you found the side effects to be mild. I hope I don't have much reaction to them either. I was thinking about looking into some vitamins instead, for both H and I. We'll probably still do that, even if it means just a multi-vitamin or St.Johns wort.<p>Sing: I'm sorry too. And what's worse... even if I wanted to change physicians, I can't!! Oddly, London, ON has a huge shortage of family doctors, so if you're lucky enough to get one, then you are stuck with them. The govt won't allow funding for anymore, b/c there are so many high paid doctors here in town. How's that? Because the majority of them are specialists working in London's hospitals (including a children's hospital). So, I just have to wait for him to retire before I can find another doctor in town. Karen,<p>Sorry you cant't change Dr's.<p>we have been going to ours since he came here in 1981, now we mainly see his assocaite but she is the same kind caring type of doctor that he is. the only thing i demand when insurance changes come up that DR V be on the plan.<p>6 months after dday I was losing it. I show up at the office shortly before closing asking to see him. They let me & I cry all over him, besides giving me some pills, he made sure that I wasn't suicidal (he said he thought I wouldn't be) then he prayed with me.<p>He delieved my OS & was the dr for the YS, he just didn't do delieveries any more. <p>as you can see I love my dr.<p>hoping your days get better soon. you have been through so much, it is not surprising that you are depressed
