As i have posted eariler,about things i fount in my H cookies. My question is if there is things in there like singles places, does that mean H was looking at that site? I did get 1 answer back about H cookies, and that was for me to try and check my e-mail and if there was a thing in there about singles not to open it. But to then go check the cookies and see if that might of been there after i checked the e-mail. So i did and there was nothing in there about singles. Also what i don't understand is yesterday i was on my computer just long enough to check my e-mail and then i went to my cookies and there was all sorts of things in there. Now i know they was just my cookies cause H had been gone all day and was not near the computer. Why would there be alot of outher things in there that i did not even look at? I a'm so confused [img]images/icons/confused.gif" border="0[/img] I thought only the things u look at on the computer go in there only? And do pop ups also go into the cookies? Hi Cathy,<p>First of all, I know next to nothing about this, but your post had prompted me to look at my own cookies through Windows Explorer. Coincidentally, a McAfee virus protector window popped up as I was looking. I simply closed the window, and low and behold, there was a new cookie. So in answer to your question, it does appear that pop-ups CAN place a cookie on your computer even if all you do is close a pop-up window.<p>Estes

I enter a lot of contests and surf many sites. I have noticed that pop-up windows will appear for dating services when I am entering a contest that requires a sponser visit. These do show up in my cookies even if I did not click on the banner or pop-up. My WH used to look at these and jump to conclusions about me looking for singles. He was the one cheating and was desperately looking for some sort of justification for what he has done.<p>Now in your case with your WS he may very well be looking at those sites. Depends on what else he claims to do while surfing the net. Don't the cookies have the address? Why don't you go to the address stated to see what happens. Maybe the cookies saved some sort of login name or password.

Basically, cookies are a little piece of code or data that a website can save on your PC for the next time you visit. They can pretty much be anything..... usernames, number of visits, time spent, demographics info (what you like to look at on their site), pretty much anything that the web designer wants to store for later.<p>Not all sites use them, but most commercial sites do. Some of it is nice, like the user name popping into a signin screen so that you don't have to retype it...unless it's one that you don't want to see any more [img]images/icons/frown.gif" border="0[/img] .<p>As far as the singles scene goes, if a particular website has an affiliation with the singles ad provider (much like BBB's contest sites), then they can add something to the cookies files. It doesn't necessarily mean that anyone has visited that site (that's what the "history" is for - ctrl H in Netscape).<p>Just FYI, you can disable or be notified when receiving cookies. Notification is kind of interesting to try for a short while, you'll probably be amazed at the number that you receive. In Netscape, select EDIT, PREFERENCES, and ADVANCED. There are three radio buttions for accept all, notify, or disable.<p>I don't use microsux, I mean MSIE, so I don't know much about it's options - though I'm sure they're the same.<p>Hope this helps a little.
