Hey, it is so nice to hear from another one up in the frozen north. Goodness knows they use the "hockey night in canada" defense way too much
Saturday nights are just an excuse to get blasted with the guys and forget the fact that they have kids........ forget the playoffs....realy . there are men out there that do not live for hockey, really!!!!!!!

Actually, I am a STB-Legally-Landed Immigrant (woooooo hoooooooo - it's only taken a whole YEAR!) who married a Canadian citizen. I live in Ontario... where it's not as cold as it was last year, but still overcast and dreary . I need the SUN!!
Holding out for Spring here, too!! No kiddin'... ... I actually said it without realizing it not long ago!
My H has almost got me pronouncing pasta and Mazda with an 'a' like 'snap', instead of my way (with an 'a' like 'alone')... paaaasta vs. pausta!
He INSISTS he speaks no different than I do!! Remember that "I am Canadian" ad? He laughed and laughed... and I knew enough to keep quiet!
Aside from the immigration ickies, I have been 100% welcomed here, and it's GREAT!!
I'll have duel citizenship within 3 years, eh? Can't wait!!
[ March 18, 2002: Message edited by: new_beginning ]

The next word is "mauve" - the correct pronounciation is "m-oh-v" not "m-aw-v"....
Just havin' fun here...

and of course we NEVER have to qualify hockey by saying "ice" hockey
it is ALWAYS understood...and people will look at you as iff you are insane if you do say "ice" hockey.

Oh but what about that "sport" called... ahem... curling... I simply don't get that. Men with Brooms looks like fun though, but I heard it stinks.

New beginnings, curling is fun!! Not that I've ever tried it, but I've watched it a lot. As a matter of fact, I just had a week's holiday so that I could go to the Nokia Brier here in Calgary, my mother flew out from London, Ontario to go with me. My DH was a volunteer driver and drove Guy Hemmings once! My DH curls, and so does our son. Our daughter tried it in high school and she was the only one who knew anything about it, she'd like to start doing it recreationally. And Men with Brooms was a hoot!! Stupid, but funny. Even our dogs have been known to watch curling on TV, especially when they're yelling "Hard" "Hurry", hehe Anyways, isn't it part of the citizenship exam, don't you have to promise to love our second national sport, or at least try it! hahaha
