Maybe Ill stay away from THAT ONE.... gotta love hollywood.
Not that I would want to see it but hows this for a plot: Premise of the Original Film it was based on: W and H have happy sucessfull marriage. WW strays with OM. H discovers that his wife has been having an affair, he goes on a rampage, brutally murdering OM. WW sees the passion in him in his rage that she didn't see in their many years of matrimony. Their romance revitalized, WW agrees to help him cover up the crime... (Note: Jeffrey Wells of Reel.com reports that the plot of the story has been changed significantly, so the above may not actually be what happens in this movie.)
Good grief I cant believe people get paid to write this stuff.
It starts may 10th.. so just a warning you might see trailers for it if you go out to see a movie in april. I can imagine it would trigger the heck out of some.
-HI
[ March 21, 2002: Message edited by: HangingIn ]

HI: My WW and I saw the poster for that piece of s*** at the theater last week when we went to see Time Machine. That caused both of us to wince.
But worse for me was I actually remember watching and liking "End of the Affair" when I saw it on cable about a year ago. Little did I know then that my W and OM were involved at the time. Even worse was that I mentioned that movie after D-day, and WW said the BS reminded her of me! I actually cried at that.
As far as I can tell at this point, I will never, ever see any movie that glorifies or romanticizes As again. Disgusting in the extreme!

The worst thing is the glorification and romanticizing. I just might actually go see a movie about an A that is honest and accurate, though. Like Saving Private Ryan dealt with war. Very ugly stuff, very thought-provoking. War movies without so much as blood are a cruel insult to veterans who experienced the real thing, watching friends being blown apart and such.
Trouble with a truthful movie about A's is that it wouldn't sell. But it should. All the crap that's been produced is a cruel insult to those of us who have experienced the extreme anguish and long-term suffering that goes with an A.
Any movie script-writers out there? This is your chance to do society a favor for a change!

I really like the STORY OF US (Bruce Willis & Michelle Pfeiffer)...even though through their conversations there is the impression he's had at least an EA, and then she starts to date during their separation, but the dialog was very real...I've said, heard so much of it, and the ending is great.
I just saw WE WERE SOLDIERS, and it's very war-graphic and I must have cried 3 different times, but Mel Gibson & Madeleine Stowe portray a loving marriage.

Let me tell you a true story on Biography last night - John Walsh, father of Adam Walsh, the child who was murdered 20 years ago, and host of Americas Most Wanted...
Right before Adam was abducted, John was a workaholic, and allowed a male friend of his to move in with his wife and young son - to keep them company while he was away - BIG MISTAKE, of course. After Adam was found murdered, a prime suspect was this man... who it was found out at that time, had an affair with Mrs. Walsh.
They went through infidelity and the murder of their child - and just celebrated their 30-somethingith anniversary last year (I think it was the 30th, if I remember correctly)... anyway, AWESOME STORY, eh?

OK, if you guys want a really positive film to go see, catch MONSOON WEDDING if it's playing near you. It's from India; it's a gorgeous film, very family-and-life-affirming. Trust me on this one.

I liked Fatal Attraction. Although they portray it as OW attempting to murder W - it is a good portrayal of what happens to your soul. But the good always wins!!!
Bridges of Madison County is another disturbing one.

Hmmm - SAFE? ah, how about Chicken Run? Or, Shrek, or Austin Powers, or one I haven't seen but I hear is just wonderful is Billy Elliot. Rat Race is kind of a chuckle (and my H worked on it!) Have fun. We're going out tonight to take the kids to see "Ice Age"

One of my favorite movies is "Undercover Blues". Hilarious! I'd highly recommend it. In fact I may try to rent it tonight.
I also like the old "Pink Panther" movies. Peter Sellars was great!
I want to see Ice Age too, but I'm not too thrilled about going by myself. I'm going to try to talk one of my kids into going with me, but cartoons are not very cool to 17-year-olds.
