I can't give just one!!!!!
Peggy Sue Got Married - they end up together in the end.
The Sound of Music - Oh, if only life were spent singing neat songs on Mountain Tops. I know, the Nazi part isn't "happy" but in the end, the family prevails.
In the makes me laugh, but shouldn't catagory: Fargo - Steve Beshemi (sp?)- Need I say more?
In the actually stupidly funny catagory: Airplane, Naked Gun (all of them), Office Space, Birdcage and Used Cars...
...and finally...
And for pure **tears** value: My Life, An Affair to Remember, The Big Chill and West Side Story.

E.T. (How appropriate since it's being re-released!)
I was roughly the same age as the boy in the movie when it came out, and my parents had also recently divorced, so I could relate to a lot of the things he was feeling/going through in the movie. At that time I was a pretty shy and withdrawn kid, and I really wanted to have a "best friend" like that.
It was also filmed a few houses down from where I lived at the time! That was fun to watch. Wow, how odd that you would ask this question!! My all time favorite movie since the day it was released has been Pretty Woman...but since the events of the past 2 years have changed my views on what REAL romance and love consist of...the movie actually irritates me because it feeds irresponsible romantic concepts. And now with the most recent updates about Julia Roberts..I can't say I really want to see the movie again.
I would have to say my newest most favorite to watch over and over again movie is Office Space. Just cracks me up. Rat Race was hilarious too and I can't wait til that comes on payperview. Contact was always very deep and interesting to me.
And now my printer just bombed out....yea, Office Space it is!!!!!!!!!!!

new_beginning:
have you seen MEET THE PARENTS yet with Deniro and Ben Stiller. I laughed so hard the entire movie that I have to recommend it. I wouldnt put it in my top 5 at this point but any movie these days that can have me laughing to tears is a blessing.
To make it better I watched it with HUBBY and we both laughed together. It was nice.
After the move I got into a discussion about Deniro movies and they are all so good..from sleepers to godfather 2, from awakenings to meet the parents...remember the remake of Cape Fear all the way to casino.....
Deniro is my absolute favorite actor due to his range.

Hmmm, ok, so I'm whacky but my 3 favs are:
The King and I - how could I NOT love Yul Brenner??
The Fifth Element - Ruby Rod makes me laugh so hard, and ohmigosh I get chills during the Diva scene as she sings while everything is erupting in her room and Leeloo (sp?) is kicking the crap out of the aliens!
And last but not least - The 13th Warrior - I just find it totally aweinspiring - not to mention that Antonio Banderas is quite a piece of eyecandy! Hmmm - so many movies to choose from -
Sound of Music is one of my faves - I laugh, I cry, I sing...
Time Bandits - an odd "little" flick but I love it.
Goodfellas is very good - rather violent, but damn a good movie.
Something about Mary is sooooo funny!!
