Idiot? I think not!
An SMS is a text message sent to a cell phone. It stands for Short Messaging Service, or something vaguely similar to that.
My cell phone can send and receive either SMS messages or regular email messages. I don't know about every other cell phone provider but my son's cell phone can't send me SMS messages but he can reply to my emails. Maybe that's more than you wanted to know. Yep, it's available here but it's not nearly as popular here as it is in other parts of the world, from what I understand.
It's got quite a following among the "cheating and trying to hide it" crowd, though.

Yes, unfortunately is was a weapon of destruction in my marriage...I'm certain H used SMS frequently to OW, probably still does. Dunno.
Unfortunately thats how the phone companies are making all their mulah these days, selling mobile phones for $1 (free if you buy a pair of jeans) to teenages...they use SMS like crazy, average use would be 5 a day (at 25cents each) - AVERAGE, some make up to 20! My sister does about 100 in a week, just to her boyfriend. You know how it is, back and forth asking things. Heck, you may as well ring them up for that price!
Dancer
I AM STILL IMPORTANT

Last yr in Singapore teenagers would rather text message than talk on the HP (handphone).
We returned I paid $3.00 a month to have it own OS's & my HPs. But most of his friends don't use it but he likes for me to do text messaging more than calling where are you, what are you doing & when you will be home.
Now if the HPs just came with a satallite tracking system in them so you would really know where those teenager really are. Hello my name is Lisa and I am addicted to text mail.
Still had no idea what SMS was.
My H and I use text much more than the phone. When we are at work it is soooo convenient you can answer it when you have time, and you dont have to talk. We send jokes and sexxy messages as well as updates on the kids.
Text mail saved my marriage - well not quite but it did help us keep in touch all day, therefore chasing away the insecurity monster.
Dancer - my #2 best friend is an aussie.
