I AM Canadian, and I do recall getting this over the counter in the PAST... not sure if they still do sell it over the counter. WW got some of this directly from a doctor after a wisdom tooth extraction gone bad a year or so ago.

I've always had to get mine with a prescription, but I have a whole bunch left over from my last surgery, and some percocet as well. I have a fairly high pain tolerance and didn't need them.

I too am in Ontario... but the last I can remember, a prescription was necessary for Tylenol with coedine.
I know for certain that "Tylenol 3's" have coedine in them, and they DEFINITELY need a prescription. However, years ago when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I was given a prescription for plain ol' Tylenol w/ coedine.
Do you have a Shoppers Drug Mart or other pharmacy in town that you could call? They'll be able to tell you over the phone. OH! Try your local Wal-Mart pharmacy... they're everywhere now, aren't they? hehehe
Karen

Now here's a subject I am an expert in.
You can definitely buy Tylenol w/ codiene over the counter. No prescription neccessary in Canada. I was hooked on these things for years due to chronic migraines.
They are cheaper to buy as generic -- acetaminophen 300mg w/codeine 8 mg and caffeine 15mg. U can get bottles of 30 - 50 - 100 - or 200.
Don't take them while drinking or your liver will jump up and smack you. Also consider this drug combo addicting as it certainly is - I am living proof.
Hope this helps. Go Canucks!

Cool, now I have tons of information.
Topie, If I called my Wal Mart and asked for T#3 over the counter they would laugh at me. I live in the states.
Luvmydogs2- Want a new best friend?
veryhurth, I have migraines too, it really sucks, and my doctor will only give me a few (6) a month. Now, knowing what migraines are like, 6 a month is not going to do a whole heck of a lot right?!
It would be really cool to have a few handy just in case you know?! I am very careful about addiction, I do a detox from all analgesia every 3 months. It's not fun, but it keeps me on my toes.
Thanks all for your input. If I decide to head up to Canada I'll let y'all know.
Elizabeth

There are precious few questions I really know the answers to. So, when there is one, I have to answer; even if others have already answered.
Yes, Tylenol 2 (with codeine) is available without a prescription. However, many drugstores hold them behind the pharmacist's counter; so you actually have to ask for them. That gives the pharmacist a chance to explain that they have codeine and give a little chat about the effects. And the non-brand name is cheaper, although not all stores have the non-brand name.
Okay, next question I can answer, please.
OneDay
