Jo, oh I've been wanting to try this. I've heard it's great for your mind too. Is it hard? How do you find a class?

And "yes" it is good for the mind, I feel really happy after a session.
Where I get my hair done had brochures, I live in a small Penninsula community, and the Pilates owner opened her Studio in January 2002'. She is originally from here but spent the last 10 years in Las Vegas as a dancer/show girl. She's Pilates Certified. Her primary discipline is Ballet.
There are two types of personal training classes, equipment/machine and mat classes. I do both.
The Pilates saying is "10 sessions you feel it, 20 sessions you see it and 30 .. YOU'RE CUT" And it's soooooooo true!
To find a Pilates Studio near you, do a search with either Google or perhaps Yahoo. I would think you'd be able to locate one within 30 miles, hopefully.
Love,

Tiny Dancer,
Here's another URL with Pilates Locations, altho I know there are several more which are privately owned.
Go Here
Also, if the URL above doesn't help you, I'd suggest emailing this Pilates addy and request a location near you. I'm sure they'd be happy to assist.
"Mrpilates@aol.com"
And oh, "no" it isn't that hard, your PT will help you with your goals and "IF" you have agressive ones, then your work can be rigorous in terms of muscle burning. Most of my workouts are pain-free.
HTHs,

Thanks TinyD,
Every time I saw your user name, I wondered if you are a dancer.
My 5yo DD loves dancing. In fact, that's what she's doing right now. She's actually getting pretty good.
Oh, and thanks for fixing my error!
Resilient,
I am definitely going to check out the Pilates site. It sounds interesting.
Thanks,
Hoping

Jo, thanks. I found a place about 3 miles from me and I'm going there tomorrow to watch and decide if I can do this without killing myself lol. Thanks again for the info

hoping4future I started dance lessons when I was 3 and I did tap and ballet until I was 17. I was a fitness trainer, mainly dance aerobics. That combined with Elton John's song Tiny Dancer and here I am lol. If your little girl loves it encourage her. It's nice having things for them to do that they enjoy.

TD,
That has been my intention. She was in BTJ class for half a year for two years in a row. Money has always been an issue and I didn't want to get her in this year and then pull her out again.
Fitness is important to me. I am still hoping my H will get involved in stuff with me. He does plenty of physical stuff at work, but doesn't if he doesn't have to. He says he doesn't want to run unless something is chasing him. What he doesn't realize is if he's ever in that situation, he won't have a chance if he doesn't get with it now.
Hoping
