What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom?
Knowledge is the intake of information. Wisdom is the ability to correctly apply the acquired accurate knowledge.
A quote on wisdom: "....wisdom is proved righteous by its works."
Why bring this up here? Because many have gained knowledge of MB info (read the books, took the questionnaire, had the counseling, participated on various sites here @MB), yet what appears to be greatly lacking is the wisdom on how to properly apply these MB principals.
Can a Ws use MB logic to make the A work? Can an OP plan A or plan B the WS? Yes. They can and some do so quite well. But those are making improper use of a 'marriage building' tool.
As many other things in life, MB has many tools here at our disposal. This site is one of them. All of us can share our viewpoints, opinions and insight to help ourselves and others. But beaware as in the past there have been some who have come here under false pretenses, with the intent to turn our MB 'knowledge' against us and further the A. ex: visitors from the OW board(s).
Then there are others who may have tried to incorporate MB principals but because of an unrepentant attitude, no matter how hard they may try, turning that knowledge into wisdom to help themselves and their families eludes them at least for the moment.
May those who visit here and post here at MB attain the wisdom that is here for our good. If you take the time to digest their posts, you may save yourself future heartache. May our hearts not become so hardened that we turn our backs on those who really care for us.
A WS and BS can be equally hurtful or helpful. Both can be either forgiving or unforgiving. The choice of how we handle ourselves is individually up to us.
The pain brought here to these boards are very real and very deep, sometimes during those stressful times we think, do and say things we might regret. Knowing this should make us aware of our vulnerability and work on minimizing those negative actions.
My father always said: "Say what you mean and mean what you say." Those words ring in my ears every day. He is a wise man.
How can we help such ones? Maybe we can't help them directly, now they may become 'lurkers' (for a while). But we can keep posting in hopes that one day, they in turn will learn to use the knowledge that has benefitted us and make wise choices.
Until then, our hearts may hurt for them but we have to let it go. This letting go is always hard especially when we feel deep in our hearts that their current path is destructive and will not bring lasting happiness. It is not a matter of control, it is a matter of caring. Some may care with no words, just actions while others talk up a storm and also perform acts of kindness. Are both bad, no but some respond better to one than the other. As long as the intent is clearly understood. Then we will not wear our heart out on our sleeve and allow ourselves to be easily offended.
So strive for the wisdom here @ MB. Don't spend time on the trivial stuff. If you do, it will help you gain the accurate knowledge and be on the better road to recovery quicker than most.
Just wanted to share my thoughts. Yours are always welcome.
Mahalo,
