Me and my fiance' have been engaged for a year as well as living together. We have one infant together and the wedding date is near. It seems that the closer we get to the wedding the more problems we run into with each other. We have both been working so hard lately that we have not had the time to spend on each other. I feel as though we may be slipping away from each other. When i talked to my close friend about this she said that it was just pre- wed jitters. Did anyone else feel this way before marriage? Please respond asap...

4 Tyler,
Welcome to Marriage Builders. You are wise to think carefully about your relationship before the wedding.
A couple of thoughts come to mind. One, have you and your fiance had any marrigae counseling seesions either through your church or privately? If not, I would suggest it ASAP.
Also, I doubt that pre-wedding jitters would account for a significantly increased level of problems in your relationship.
IMHO, it would be wise to work through your questions about the relationship even if it means postponing the wedding. There is every reason to believe that you and your fiance can develop a plan to have a strong and fulfilling marriage.
Be sure to go to the main site here and read all of the material about emotional needs, especially. The Harleys also have a book on building a foundation for a lasting marriage.
Keep posting to let everyone here know how you are doing.
Estes
[ April 27, 2002: Message edited by: Estes49 ]

4 Tyler,
Get your SO to learn MB. We beleive that we could protect our relationship with care (fillin ENs), protect (avoid LB), time (spending quality time) and honesty. Learn about habit and behavior ... there is a general welcome link under my signature ... read more.
Wedding or no wedding you have an obligation to your offsprings ... aside from ceremony and legality you should learn how keep and have a fullfiling relationship.
-RH-

REmember the key to a good marriage is communication, if you are having problems with communication now, it is time to start working on it. Somehow you need to be able to talk to your future spouse and let him/her know how you are feeling truly. Don't over react and assume this means something bad, or let them know you are questioning things at present, but let them know you are feeling a bit jittery, things are stressful. They may let you knwo the same thing or be able to support you through this bad time. I lived for twelve years with a spouse that would not truly disclose her feelings. I never beleived this could lead to the situation that did, as if I would have I would have taken her inability to communicate her emotions alot more seriously. Now we are at the point I can only hope she is willing to learn how to communicate or unfortunately it will be a hard lesson learned.
