I was born, grew up and went to college in N.CA. Our favorite dates were in S.F. Monterey and Santa Cruz. We come out there a few times a year to get a California "fix". I have lived in the South for over 20 years and people still say: "Honey, where are you FROM!"

Orchid,
We almost ran out of gas looking for a gas station at a Pleasanton exit a few months ago! We were on our way back from skiing at Lake Tahoe, it looks like a really nice place! Oh, that reminds me of some really good college "hot tub" dates after skiing!

Hey Ladysing,
Pleasanton is no longer a 'hick' 1 horse town. It is a growing suburb with nicely planned communities (the main streets in some areas are built so that the houses don't face the main road and the rock walls are high enough to keep out the traffic dust.
Next time you are in the area, wave on both sides. Looks like we even have a few MB neighbors a little north of here.
What part of sunny Cal are you at?
Take Care,
L.

Oh! That's funny! I didn't mean The South as in So. California, I meant it as in: Y'All... that's what they say in Tennessee! I'll give Elvis your regards.

Hey guys... used to live in Marin... I lived in mill valley and san ansemlo all in a yr... whew! WIth my alcoholic husband spenidn the money we saved for our downpayment on our new pad.. it was a rough yr... the place in mill valley was way small and ok rent... but way way small... you know how nice it is there... that is the way lots of places in texas are... so that is where I chose to live.. but hey, I just don;'t have the marin pocketbook yet... I returned to texas to live without the scenery but in a 2000 sq ft home with a yard and a garage.. something I can afford all by my lonesome even without a cheating h.
I love calif., my dream is to retire in the wine country... I hope to make it come true.
I do love to visit... I went to san fran law school the yr I was there and still have a good girlfriend from that class- I loved it there- but the crazies with the drinking h drove me home to texas.. my parents live 10 minutes away from me!
Yall are so lucky with your wonderful weather and beautiful northern cali!
Honey

I am a lost Northern Californian ... living outside my "natural habitat" in ---> (ugh) Los Angeles ...
Both my parents were born in Santa Cruz! I don't know anyone else who can say that!
I was raised largely in San Jose ... when it was known as THE PRUNE CAPITOL OF THE WORLD! LOL I think 99.9% of the S.J. orchards are gone. My parents' modest S.J. home is worth a small fortune however
I miss the fog and the redwoods of Santa Cruz.
Pepper
