I've been in Plan B since January 2002. After the first mnth, WS phoned, wanting to know if I can share school fees. Told him I will think about it - spoke to my ATTY and did not return his call.
For the past 4 mnths he has been liazing with my housekeeper or through our 9yo D. No contact or seing him at all.
Two weeks ago my housekeeper was not at home and I had to hand the children over to him. I could see the shock on his face when he saw me.. I've changed my hairstyle and colour of my hair. Also my style of clothing have changed but the big difference now was that my attitude have changed too. I greeted him warmly, kissed the children good bye with an "enjoy your weekend with Dad" jumped into my car and went to visit a friend.
He bombarded my DD's with questions.
Last Friday, it was his weekend to have the children. At 5.45pm he phones unable to make it still stuck in another city. Will fetch them in the morning. (All lies as he was sighted at the airport a 2.30 pm) The old me would have accepted this, but the new me said no. After I have cooled down and vented my anger at the fax machine I called him back. "I understand that you are not able to fetch the children but as my weekend was planned well in advance, I have no other alternative but to take the children with me" He then starts with his fogese talk "Can OW's, ex/H come and fetch the children and then they can sleep at his house until the morning. I could not believe that this was coming from a sane person. Told him that I was not in favour of that as OW's ex/h is not known to me and there was no way that I would let my children spend the night at his house. He rang off very angry. I felt good because I kept calm and firm but also with an "I know how you feel but" attitude.
On Sunday he phones, speaks to 9yo and ask her when we will be back home. As I was not around at that time D came to ask me and she had to phone her dad back. Well, now for clinger of the past months. WS asked D to call me to the phone. No greeting - "Do not speak to me through my children" I thanked him for realising that we were two matured adults and in future I will appreciate it if we could speak to each other directly regarding the children. He is still very, very deep in LA LA LAND.
This morning he phoned me to find out how 3yo was doing as she was not feeling well and told me he will go with me when she sees her doctor. He also wanted to know if he could accompany me to our 9yo D. choral recital. This is very small baby steps for me.
Being in Plan B, is not easy. The road is very, very narrow. Because I had detached, I could only concentrate on myself and my children. This has made me into a stronger person and with the help of MB, I was prepared for WS's outburst and could deal with it even knowing how to answer him.
