Sorry to join in so late...I have been away from the boards for a bit....

I am in! My vote would be - in order of preference - the Guad river, Austin or SA...

Although fall would be cooler and less crowded, those with young 'uns may have trouble due to conflicts with schooling and such, so I would think we should do it before Labor Day.

Let's make sure we have more people attend ours, so we can keep those Left-coasters in their place! Everything MUST be bigger in TX!

ok, I can do SA or Austin. Just not in August when I go on vacation. My sis lives in Austin and I could stay in her guest room. She is wanting me to come for a visit anyway.

WCNT, thanks for the link! One day I'd love to go camping there, and I see that they have a lot of areas to cook and fish and such. I prob won't do it for our MB get-together unless I can leave my kiddos at home. I can't see them "roughing it", and goodness knows H isn't into fishing or horseback riding and all. *sigh* I'm such a geek.

Personally I vote for later -- Fall or Winter -- rather than earlier (even with kids) but that's just cause we have so much on our plate here, now, and I can haul the kiddos anywhere if anyone else brings there kids. October offers a Colombus Day weekend, doesn't it?

H will probably stay here and work (as always). But I'll see what I can do.

If you do have it sooner, be sure and take LOTS of PICS!!!!

I would go camping at a MARRIOT. That's about as "campy" as I get, though! We just need to find one with high speed internet and a pillowtop mattress. ummmm, and I do go fishing........at SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS!!

You just have to watch out for the wild hogs in the park. They are somewhat of a problem.

Thanks for the heads up, will bring my side arm.

Hey, maybe we could go shinin' for hawgs???

Mel, where's your sense of adventure? C'mon, I'll stick you on the back of my hoss and we can ride around the town like real Texans!

We gotta get pics of that for all of those unbelievers, LOL!

For something on the weekend, I'm in.
I'm right between San Antonio and Austin, in New Braunfels.
The only block out I would have would be Sept. 13-18th as I'll be at a convention.

My vote would be Austin. Not very far for those in SA, and A little closer for those in Houston/Dallas (I think)
Plus, that town has the best friggin night life I've ever seen. Short of Vegas anyway.

Ahhhhhhhhhh yes......the nightlife. Nothin' like a good night of watching Tx locals play live...and then a trip to Stubb's BBQ the next day!

Ummmmm....there might also be a few times where I don't remember what a good time I had. But I know I had one!

Austin works for me. No kids. No time restraints

Took some great pictures of the bluebonnets last time I was in hill country.......if you haven't been to the Lady Byrd Johnson Wildflower reserve, I would so very highly suggest it

School starts Aug 15, so anytime after that it would have to be a weekend for us...I can leave the boys with Mom in SA...or better yet, if it is DAD's weekend...oh never mind...just leave em with mom...

I'm not one for the nightlife anymore in my old age...but, I'm game for anything at this rate!

i think last time I was in Austin, I threw up all the way around 6th street! That was many ions ago!

SLH, I will definitely have my kids with me...so three girls and three boys...they'll do just fine!

HAHAA definitely sounds like Coyote Ugly is going to have to be one of the group's stops.

Oh! your post reminds me! I need to call the friend that I crashed with (when I went out on my birthday) to start panning in his front yard.

I had many shots of Goldschlager that night.

WHAT??? you got a problem with KIDS???

Here is my problem with kids:

1. they are too short
2. they can't drive
3. they make no money
4. they are LOUD
5. they wear little children's clothes
6. they run amok with very little provocation

But nothing about 20' of hawg rope, duck tape and a mean [censored] Auntie Mel stare can't fix.
