I need to preface this letter by saying that my father in law is an abusive, controlling, jerk. Okay with that said:

Llama -
I am so disappointed at how things are turning out. I hope you are well and will continue to grow. Take care.

UGH! I can't stand the man. My H seemed a bit embarrassed by the letter. I'm ok. I'm sure in his warped world he thinks it was nice. I think "disappointed" was a poor choice in words. Perhaps "saddened" would have been better. But, I can't control it. Just hope he doesn't write me anymore.

My sister and I had dinner last night and laughed about possible letters to write back (I'm taking the high road and not writing back.) It was pretty funny.

I'm proud at how I handled myself with my H. Had my parents sent him the same note (which they would never do), he would have had a cow.

Just a vent. I feel much better now.

(((Llama)))

You did very good, I have the luck to have a rather nice in-law family... my FIL is a bit crazy, and I still resent the crazy bit of advice he gave WH when he told him he had come clean about an affair "Well that is why chickens forget what they have eaten"

So I think it is more crazy than irritating, despite the man had multiple A's on my MIL, and only stopped when she died and THEN he felt bad .

I normally just ignore his comments when it comes to marriage because it is not as if he had a happy one, he is living with a woman he married for convenience, (because she needed a way to get the INS to stop harrassing her), he is not happy with her, and it is sad.

You are demostrating you are the bigger person here. Disregard the note, and don't worry about it. Maybe what he was trying to say is that he was disappointed on his son and that things turned on that way, but he got trampled.

You can always read it that way.
