I found this story in the RD and it was about telling your teenage daughter about sex, but it had other meanings to me in my situation as I read it.

God made all of us writers, and our lives open books. Each and every relationship would be a chapter, and it's up to you to make sure that the "characters" in the book were worthy of inclusion. The catch -unlike a book on paper, once you become involved, there would be no way to edit out the bad choices.

Some chapters would be sweet and memorable, while others (hopefully, not many) would be painful, but full of life lessons. The most important thing to remember is the pen is in your hand, and only you can decide how the story unfolds.

Is this not true? You could explain this to your kids about boyfriends and girlfriends in the same manner. The woman said she later heard her daughter telling someone on the phone "This is your book. That loser doesn't deserve to be in it".

I guess these are our books, and we need to decide if we want the characters in book, or if we want to move to another chapter.
