This is so depressing to me. My kids got a pitbull from their friend. At first I was very much against keeping this dog. But he has won my heart.

His name is Leo, he is trained - shakes hands, rolls over, stays, etc. He is 3 years old, black and white. He gets along good with cats, in fact he loves them. He is used to kids, lots of them.
There is nothing wrong with him, other than he is a pitbull. I live in a mobile home park and the management has just informed me that we cannot keep him.

If anyone here can take him, I will send him on an airplane. It makes me so sad because he is a good dog.

Believer,

It so so sad; but from what I understand it's the property liability insurance companies that are making it tough on people who have pit bulls and rotweillers (spl?).

My husband may be testifying in a case involving a rotweiller attack. People sue the homeowner/property owner and the insurance companies are having to make large settlements to the injured party.

I hope you have luck in finding a home for your dog. Blessings, CSue

Yep, that is what it is. The dog is doomed for being a pitbull. We have $100,000. on our homeowners insurance, but it is not enough.

Leo is a mellow dog. He is used to tons of people coming through the house. We have two cats that he loves.

His only mistake is being a pitbull. I feel so bad that I can't keep him. He is a beautiful dog, young and healthy. Whenever I walk him, I get compliments on his behavior. It makes me feel so bad that we have to get rid of him. None of this is his fault.

Believer,

I know there are breed specific rescue groups. Have you checked these out? Your dogs sounds like such a sweetheart - it would be great to see him find another good home.

I would hate to see you have to take him to animal control/pound, because I'm never sure if they try to promote adoptions for pit bulls.

Believer, I wish I could take your dog. You know how much my D wants one. But I don't know how a pitbull will be like. Actually, I am afraid of one. So maybe some other one will give him asweet home.

Thanks lostnhurt. I was always very unsure about a pitbull. When my sons first got him, I was afraid of him. But he is a sweet dog. He loves my cats, when I walk him he looks for the cats, and goes up and sniffs them. He is used to lots of kids, babies, etc. But he is doomed for being a pitbull.

I wish I could take him! Are you in Southern California L.A area? I am involved in dog rescue and if you are in this area I could give you some numbers to call.

Yes, I am in Oceanside, just north of San Diego. I would love to have some numbers. He is a great dog, with no bad habits. And he is beautiful - white with black spots. People always stop and say what a nice dog he is. He does not bark and everyone is his friend.

Hi Believer: There's a woman where I work who is involved with Pitbull rescue here in the L.A area but I can't remember the name of the group. I will talk with her Monday and see if there any help they can provide.

Also there is a Pitbull Rescue group in San Diego called Chako Rescue @ 619-424-8780.

Also check www.pbrc.net which is Pitbull Rescue Central website.

There another group in Orange County Megans Rescue no phone number but email address saveapuppy@yahoo.com.

Also the National Rescue Referral Network for Pitbulls email DevaDogs@aol.com

Thanks for the information. My kids are out barbecuing tonight and the dog is out with them. When I went over, he came bounding up, wagging his tail. I really want to find a good place for him.

Believer,

I hoping right along with you that your doggy gets a good home. I am a an animal lover to the extreme. We currently have two large dogs (one came from a rescue league, so I know they find good homes for dogs), two cats (one also came from the same rescue league) and two painted turtles (okay, they came from a lake--DD found them and I fell in love with them and became their mommy when they were just teeny-tiny).

We also had two pet rats at one point. Our last one, Missy, just passed away at the ripe old age of 2 1/2 a couple months ago.

If I wasn't already over my quota and lived a little closer to CA, I'd offer to take the dog. I know pit bulls can have a reputation, but yours sounds like a sweetie.

Best of luck.

LL
