I’ve read on Bob Pure’s thread that alcohol and the anti-dep Cipramil (a SRRI-inhibitor) can’t be mixed because it can cause paranoid delusions and anxiety. I wasn’t aware of this and my doctor never told me this can cause a chemical reaction. I also use Cipramil - 30 mg a day. I use it chronically for 17 months now and will probably use it permanently because of a chemical imbalance and genetic deviation on both sides of my family. I don’t drink alcohol regularly and only during certain/special occasions most of the time. I would say the most I ever drink is one or two units of alcohol once or twice a week, but sometimes I don’t have any alcohol intake for weeks. During all this time while using Cipramil, I didn't ever experience any side effects or chemical reactions from drinking alcohol, but I’m just concerned about this after I’ve read Bob Pure’s thread. I wonder if his doctor referred to ALL alcohol intake or only cases where people take alcohol too much or/and too regularly? Must alcohol be completely avoided while using Cipramil or is it okay to have a drink now and then? Although I didn't experience any problems, I'm just concerned the alcohol I do take sometimes may influence the working of the Anti-D in some ways I'm not aware of. I will appreciate any feedback.

Suzet, my doc confirmed y'day that a LOT of alcohol and cipramil do not mix. I had a LOT of alcohol...

Occasional alcohol use on Cipramil should be fine but check with your own doctor.

As for me, I'm not drinking until I am back in control of myself. That started yesterday.

Thanks for your quick response! I also think occasional alcohol use on Cipramil should be okay but I will make sure and check with my doctor when I go for my next prescription. The reason I feel so concerned about this is because I’m extremely sensitive for anything that causes anxiety. Cipramil helps for the OCD with associated depression but I still struggle with the anxiety issues from time to time, although it is MUCH better than it was before I started using Cipramil.
