Today I finally received some conversations between the sparrow, her attorney, and my attorney.

Things have been moving along. The sparrow's lawyer seems in a hurry. But my lawyer has said "not a chance" to a certain point in sparrow's proposed settlement.

Anyway, those are just details.

As I mentioned on Kimmy's thread earlier, getting these legal papers is not getting easier for me. I'm amazed by how much it hurts. And by how quickly I recover.

I'm sending the sparrow some health insurance money in a card this week. I wonder what to write. I think a joke, and a good closing.

Speaking of which, I've been closing my notes with "miss you" quite a bit. I think it drives her a little crazy, because it implies this confident attitude that I think she's coming home. Like she's away at camp or something.

Is that a good thing? I think probably it is, but I'm not always sure about these Jedi mind tricks.

just for my own recap, i guess it was my understanding that the sparrow hadn't really been doing anything since the initial paperwork had been filed in july but now apparently she has been working w/her lawyer the whole time? do i have it right?

what kind of timeline are you looking at now? as far as when things will be finalized? are you going to stall as much as possible or is this one point something that you really can't/won't agree with? once i recieve paperwork i just don't really forsee things taking that much time, my H probably would agree w/everything just to get it over with. i have heard that sometimes you can get things postponed due to special occasions (like the holidays) but don't know if at this point it is something i should really keep in mind. as i said before in one of your other thread all this manuevering is in someway pressuring the R between OW/WH and we all know how things change in time and i'm still trying to use time as my friend.

personally, i think even the absence of "i miss you" would serve as a jedi mind trick because then she would wonder if something had changed. in the end, it's still up to you.

Maybe instead of "miss you" you could write "see you soon" or "see you" or something like that. Less smothering sounding....kinda more hopeful, kwim? But not as if you're counting the hours (even if you are).

((((((((((((GC)))))))))))))))

Hug tag. You're it.

(giggle)

I read earlier about your pain. I kwym. I hurt sometimes so bad that the only thing that keeps me breathing is knowing that it can't be forever. This stuff will not last forever, right? Happy stuff, GC. Go out on your porch and blow bubbles (with bubble juice, silly....they'll commit you if you just sit there blowing spit bubbles). It's really hard to be unhappy if you blow a gorgeous bubble.

Where was that lobotomy and beer I ordered?

UG. Fire the serving wench.

Sorry, I've got stinkin' threads all over the place. I thought a couple of them were dead. I've avoided doing a journal out of some phobia.

I like "see you soon" as a closing. One of our old sayings was, "See you soon, baboon!" Maybe I'll use that one. Whatever I put in this card is going to be light as a feather.

I need to find a good joke.

RR, I did consider a terse, all-business note, but I think not for now. Yes, she has been working on the D. Occasionally a couple of weeks go by between efforts, but she gathers strength and then does another piece.

It will be a check and you will write "Health Insurance for October 2004 (or whenever)" on it, correct?

Here's one:

Guy goes 2 his doctor and says "Doc, I've been having trouble remembering things lately."

Doc replies "How long has this been going on?"

Guy says "How long has WHAT been going on?"

You're a good man, gc.

Chris - you better believe I memo those checks!

We're having trouble reaching a settlement at the moment because since I'm planning to keep our house, the sparrow expects me to return the gift money her family gave us when we bought the place last year. She calls it a "non-marital" gift, even though there's a gift letter signed by her folks that lists the two of us as the recipients of the money. I'm refusing her that cash, and it's slowing things down a little. Fine by me.

GC -

I am no longer giving you my advice, because you already know what that is.

But just wanted to say hey!

(I'm an MB addict and there is just some threads I can't stay off of, so I'm limiting the threads I even get started with, but it is too late for yours, already addicted <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> )

And apparently so is roughroad! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Hey roughroad!
