I think I saw a thread on this earlier, but I'm not sure what it was about. I didn't watch the premier. But I just watched part of Oprah with the cast and some real desperate housewives.

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of this show. I thought Oprah's show was slanted. They talked to the wife who had an A, but they never spoke to her husband. They have reconciled, but they didn't ask his opinion of the show.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

I watched the show expecting to be angered by it. I was surprised to find myself laughing out loud!

It's not a drama or soap style show, but kind of a campy spoof. One line "I was so bored today, I came dangerously close to cleaning this house" drew laughter from my H listening from another room. I think he had been afraid to be in the same room as me when it came on.

The "stepford" wife hit close to home when she became fixated on her therapist's loose coat button during her session. I am a bit obsessive about things sometimes...

Anyway, it was a comedy and was a breath of fresh (if not inappropriate) air amid all the stupid reality shows and depressing police dramas.

I need to laugh more and surprisingly, this made me do it.

OMG, that show is such a riot! The only reason I watched it in the first place was because of the earlier thread. I figured I'd make up my own mind and see what everyone else said. Unfortunately the commercials made it look completely sleazy but it is farce more than anything else. The characters are so precisely sketched that it is hard not to recognise people you know in them.

There is the trophy WW whose conversation about ENs with her emotionally negligent husband could have come straight out of MB, the sweetest, prettiest BS (not sure if they are D) who is slowly finding herself back on her feet (H is with OW) the Stepford wife who never gets any thanks from her ungrateful family, the harried mom with three utterly wild litle redheaded boys plus baby (her H is always away on business) and of course the divorced blonde bombshell who causes problems for the BS who wants to try out her wings with the new single man on the block.

This guy has a BIG secret but one sweet thing we found out is that he is still in love with his wife who has passed away. The story is narrated by one of the former residents of Wisteria Lane, a wife and mother who has committed suicide (she was discovered by a perfectly snoopy neighbor woman) and is now watching over her neighbors as they try to figure out why on earth she did it. It's a little mystery and humor mixed together.

This show is just too funny! Kind of a Wonder Years for women although my H liked it too. I read somewhere that it is written by men...amazing! I must be liking these quirky sorts of shows now b/c I'm finding myself dying to know what's going to happen on LOST. What is that BIG THING? (LOST Wed. night) and what is in that BIG BOX? (DHW,Sunday night)

I thought the woman did not kill herself, but her husband killed her and made it look like a sucide. I missed the first week so I was not sure what happened to her.

No, she did kill herself. And the show is pretty funny, I was pretty cautious when I first started watching it, but like most ended up laughing out loud. Even at the one gal who is having an A. That shocked me and I think it shocked my H also because I usually change the station or leave the room when something to do with an A comes on TV.

But it's pretty funny!
